They'd just force vacated wins or something else dumb. Of course, it'd take 4 years to come to the decision.

schit. Talk about NIL and portal crap being "foR tHe PlaYeRs" that crap is to continue to expand storylines NCAA marketing etc etc. If they really cared about the players, junk like this wouldnt happen. This decision will seriously hurt the future of this kid. NCAA is pitiful.

Rulz for a reason! Help prevent kids from hopping around to schools looking for better NIL deals and to help schools define rosters.
Kids are free to transfer once and even a second time if they are a graduate without penalty. But 2 times without degree then you must use a redshirt year. I don't see a problem with this and actually like it!

Maybe you should look deeper into the specifics of his situation. Maybe compare to some others who are playing football this fall. His case is not the same. Mack Brown just strongly called out the NCAA. I’ve been around Mack Brown and know his temperament. Trust me, for Mack to make a public statement like that he is ticked off and he’s right.

Not familiar with the FSU situation. Tez was at NCCU for 2 seasons and never played a down due to 2 cancelled Covid seasons. The NCAA made their ruling public after Tez had been cleared. This is criminal. If the FSU situation is similar it’s wrong as well. The NCAA no longer cares if schools are in a bid war over players. But a Deans List student who only played at 1 school (Kent) and wanted to come home and play at his dream school can’t play ball. Wrong!

I like the rule too, but as with any rule there need to be exceptions. And this should be a very clear, cut and dried approved exception.
Did you see why he transferred twice?

NCAA had said that an athlete could transfer a second time without sitting out a year.
NCAA changed the rule in January saying that the athlete would have to apply for a waiver and give a valid reason.
1. Walker and Jackson (the guy at FSU) were both enrolled in and attending classes at UNC and FSU before the NCAA changed the rule. So, they retroactively applied it to the athletes.
2. Both students gave reasons (be near to family). Jackson is from just outside of FSU and his mother is ill. Walker has an ill grandmother.
But, the NCAA has decided that it is in the athletes' best interest to sit out a year. They made the decision thinking only of what is best for those two young men.

And further, Walker transferred the first time because of Covid lunacy which completely canceled the entire season of football. He transferred to a place that didn’t cancel. Holding that against him is ludicrous.

Jim Philips dropped the ball here. I like the one "free" transfer rule it attempts to regulation 'free agency" in College Football. if you don't already have your degree, you have to sit out your second transfer.
JT Daniels is on his fourth school without a problem because his last two have been Grad Transfers. Walker never played a down at his first school because they cancelled the whole season due to Covid. It is Ok for the NCAA to give a blanket waiver for a sixth year of eligibility due to Covid but can't give this kid an exception because he was a scholarship player in a year where the school did not play football due to Covid.
They also passed the rule after the kid had already transferred to UNC.
Based on those two factors an exception could be granted and not comprise the intent of passing the rule.

about this young man's journey, I think I can unequivocally say that once again, the NCAA has its collective head up its ar$e.
That is all, carry on.

That's honestly the worst part of this! If you watched the ACC All Access, it shows him continuing to practice, and inquire his status daily. To think of the mental impact to this young man is so hypocritical, it just seems like a slap in the face.
Wanting to be near his grandmother seems like the lowest of requests you see.
I hope this young man gets better news soon.
