Swinney on depth and redshirts

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney's prerecorded edition of Tiger Calls (due to the men's basketball opener) is airing now and he talked redshirts and depth down the stretch.

Now that the season is down to three games left in the regular season, he said they now have added depth in being able to play redshirting players in cornerback Branden Strozier, safeties Kylen Webb and Rob Billings, offensive linemen Zack Owens and Ian Reed and wide receiver Noble Johnson.

Strozier has played in two games, so he can play in two of the final three regular season games, as well as Webb and Billings, while Owens, Johnson and Reed have three games they can play and still redshirt.

A new rule this year is that the bowl game does not count against the redshirt, so redshirting players can play five total games with postseason action.

Recently Dabo said he had been playing special teams maybe he will get targeted but he has played enough there is no redshirt

Hannifan has been playing special teams all year long and played some snaps at WR against ND on Saturday. He did not redshirt.
