This guy was deep into Qanon-territory and acted out exactly what he was conditioned on. Writing this off as "crazies be crazy" is passing the bag, especially hiding behind "people are just doing this cause politics" facade.
The criticism of Qanon is not the partisanship of it; it's how it exploits emotionally fragile people by pumping them with fear/anger over imaginary hobgoblins.
Crazy is crazy about the guy who intended to kill Kavanaugh or the guy in N Dakota who killed a teenager over an ideological argument, saying he did it because he thought the victim was a Republican Extremist, or that the guy who shot up a Republican softball game.
I don’t hear the left saying “maybe we should tone our rhetoric down a little” in regards to those folks, we just get crazy is crazy.
So hypocrisy aside, I think crazy is crazy is probably closer to the truth than not for all these people. If one thing didn’t set them off, something else would have. Like it said, do you think this guy (already with a history of totally strange behavior) would have been harmless and normal, absent Qanon? If so, then how do you curtail it without draconian free speech restrictions? If not, then you need to re-examine which opinion is “weak AF”

are exponentially higher without an informational channel specifically targeted at the mentally ill, and intentionally designed to provoke emotional responses by bombarding them with the idea they are on the verge of being wiped out. And, dare I say, eliciting such violent responses is probably also intentional.
And as I also said, the solution is not draconian free speech restrictions. It's both sides finally speaking up to quash the emotional grifting going on, but squashing Qanon is the lowest hanging fruit out there -- so why not start there?

NBC officials said Miguel Almaguer's "Today" show report about Nancy Pelosi's husband was based on "unreliable" information from an unnamed source.
Interesting that NBC News (notoriously pro-Democrat) lacked the editorial acumen to vet the 'Pelosi-unfriendly' story before their reporter was allowed to air it.
Only after the backlash had hit NBC did they retract the story as not being based on fact.
To my limited research, the NBC reporter himself has not had any public presence since his bosses made him retract the story.
