could he do the same this year but the opposite way?

If we end up like 8-12 or 9-11 in the ACC and scuffle into the tournament as a low seed thanks to the flawed net rankings and metrics, when nobody really feels like we are a tournament worthy team... could he say "look we technically made it but that type of season still did not meet the standards we wanted this year and therefore we will be moving on."

Because you have to remember than this was supposed to be "The year". The culmination, everything we were told to wait for. It's not just any ole year where yes a tournament appearance would be acceptable for our program.
