Should I buy a new car?

I mean, of the internally combustin' type? I don't really need one. My SUV's only got about 80K on it, but I used to think stocking up on incandescent light bulbs was silly too.

You like incandescents more than LED bulbs?

Incandescents are far superior to LED's IMO. However, seeing as how our benevolent gub'mint is forcing us to use LED's, I' sure like to hear if there are some that don't shine harsh as industrial lights.

Any recko-mendations?

Incandescent is a more pleasing light

But just make sure you buy led’s with warmer color temps (2000-3000K) and it will get you closer to what you like and away from the bright white and blue ones.

Thanks Obed!

Krzy below, Incandescents just seem like way more natural light. Heck, some of the LED's I've seen... I'd rather have florescent.

Buy 2700K LEDs if your only complaint is the color temperature.

Where is the "far superior" argument.

MTTF and energy per lumen output have a thing to say about it.

The light output is far superior. I don't give a twig about saving electricity.

That's not even remotely true.

The push for LED was always about energy savings over saving the planet.

It allowed the mega electrical utilities to not need to upgrade the electrical system, which is now why they're getting screwed with the advent of EVs.

GROSSSSSSLLLLYYYY overstated... at least the cheap residental ones. I change those dang things out constantly.

I try to buy ones that are maybe not name-brand, but made at reputable plants....

Now, I sometimes have power issues at home... perhaps they're more sensitive to voltage sags and whatnot.

They're definitely more efficient... way more efficient.

I haven't touched any of mine in 10 years at this point, but definitely have extremely reliable power at my house.

Older incandescents are also subject to the same voltage sags too. It's just an odd take to say incandescent is "far superior" to LED. It's not even close. LED has phased out high-pressure sodium, metal-halide, and high-pressure mercury vapor on the industrial front too.

Installed 48 mini-'cans' for general lighting in my son's house. They have 3/4/5000 switch for color depending on the room.

You’ll appreciate the higher (generally speaking) CRI value of incandescents.

LED’s can be reasonable if all you care about is lumens, color temp, etc, but it costs a fortune to get a high quality LED light with a high CRI value.

If you need a CRI of 100, sure, incandescent and halogen are the only way. But majority of LEDs these days are 90+ CRI, which is excellent for most people...

So sure, in terms of color rendering, they can be labeled as "far superior", but that's not what he was meaning with that, and you know that.

The energy saving in LEDs are amazing. Approximately 1/7 the power for the same lumens, and last much longer. LEDs also have a wider span of warm and cool levels, not to mention colors. I have some smart bulbs in my house that you can change color with your phone.

These advancements were market-driven but only after cheap and wasteful incandescents were forced out of the market by environmental policies. I see it as a success story.

Here's some #### I googled.
