Serious question? Why do injured players travel to away games?

I see no reason for Hemenway, Leyte, Heidebreder to travel. Why do we pay for their airfare, food, hotel, etc., to go to an away game especially as far as Cuse just to sit? There is zero chance they play and it just drives up costs. Also there are walk-ons that travel but I guess that is a perk but still an expense.

Long term injured players, walk-ons, Redshirts often don't travel with the football team, why would they with basketball? Take 4-5 players traveling every away game adds up and that $$ could go to pay an asst another $100-150k. That number will increase with West travel next year.

Just seems like wasted money to me. Plus the injured players could stay home and get extra treatment to help recovery.

You are a freaking idiot! Nothing hating, asked a question. I have wondered this for years. You stir more negative crap about basketball than anyone on this site. At least JK gives insight, you crow about dumb stuff.

Well, no additional costs for airfare since they take a charter. The opportunity to be with the team in live action, pregame, halftime and postgame is worth the hotel costs and food.

There are different sized charters and a lot of the larger ones are shared nowadays so seats are seats. Players not playing cost money that I don't see as a necessity, I don't care which sport they play.

I also wonder why the team needs so many student managers

There are over 15. More than members of the team.

Really dig deep to come up with something”
• Charter flight
• they practice, do walk throughs, etc I’m assuming they would want that to be 5x5
• Hemingway has been cleared to play

Not all players travel with football or baseball. Not sure about others except mens bball takes the entire team playing or not. Often injured football players drive their own way to the game if its close to watch the game. Its just an observation that I wondered about. The same players get to see coaching at home games. Hemenway, Leyte have been to 5yrs of away games, they are not learning anything.

You can always learn something. Even the players that are Hall of Fame guarantees will say this. I imagine there is value in having them travel or they would not. And as far as football, there is a travel squad limit that is in place.

The entire team doesn’t travel in baseball and football because of travel restrictions placed by either the conference or the NCAA. I think each sport travels the maximum allowed, and the players deserve it ( especially in sports with limited scholarships).

Can you give it a rest, this is not a peewee church league team. Who cares about the small additional cost.

Might be something to mention to Neff. Penny pinching is key these days and in these higher cost times.

The only thing I can think of would be if they have potentially been given some managerial/administrative responsibilities in their current roles.

Man, this is cold. We're talking about kids here,

They are still very much a part of the team and still needed, maybe not in the sense of an injured Tom Brady with a headset on but still.
