S. Carolinians can have their property arbitrarily seized

Dec 6, 2022, 12:22 PM

even if no conviction ever takes place. There is a bill in the SC senate that wants to end that.

Most people would be surprised at some of the seemingly bizarre examples of the government taking private property from citizens with no justification.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

I'd start with federal income taxes.***

C’mon man, we just need a federal income tax to pay off our WWI debt.
And only rich people will pay.
And it will be capped at 1%.
Trust us.

Property taxes are outright theft, period.

How TF do I owe anyone taxes on something I own? Criminal.

That is the freaking truth. All my stuff paid off, all of it , and I paid over $6000 in property taxes last year alone, it’s such complete BS and it hits those of us who are retired or semi-retired the hardest. What am I supposed to do, sell all my stuff, rent a house and ride a bicycle?

Can’t have people owning land now. C’mon.

One would think the Supreme Court would strike down all these unconstitutional property grabs.
Especially the ones where the FBI coordinates with local LE to target people for a cut of the action.

Unfortunately, you never really own your property. The state does. You pay a yearly rental fee called property tax. If you don’t pay your property taxes, the state can seize “their” property.

Yep ...... one of my friends used to say, "if you think you own your house and property, try not paying taxes on it for a few years"!

This was in the news 4 or 5 years ago in 2 or 3 low counties. The property taken in those cases was mainly cash found after traffic stops. Other properties taken were cars, firearms, and other personal property. I'm sure land and homes may fall under this regulation, but I think the vast majority are the properties I mentioned above.

The Spartanburg sheriff is really proud of taking peoples property, without any due process. He brags about it. Flaunts it even.

Judging from the TD, I guess someone thinks it’s totally cool for a sheriff to take people’s property…amazing.
