Question about Poaching teams

For the college football teams that poach players from other college teams and pay them with NIL cash, like UGa, is the antiquated term "scholarship" even slightly appropriate? Years ago, the term scholarship was exclusively reserved for young men and women who had demonstrated intellectual achievement in high school. Granted, football teams have watered down the meaning of the term over the past several years. However, now, for some teams, the word "scholarship" means nothing to the players who have simply been purchased and paid to perform for the entertainment of fans. ie, they are not there for an education by any stretch of the word. I really believe the term "scholarship" should not be used for the players on the teams like UGa or FSU. Just call the players: "performers."

Every school has a chance to use NIL to it's advantage and every school is under the 85 scholarship rule. What you should always remember is that because the goal of "top" players is to reach the NFL, no team will ever have 85 of those players on the team. Sitting on the pine gets player nowhere so they will go where they can play.

Give Dabo, as active HC, Chip Kelly, active OC and Saban, retired HC/Consultant the task of cleaning up tampering and setting penalties that will be enforced.

Any team that contacts a player before their name is officially documented in the transfer portal is tampering.

The universities that comprise the NCAA...

... are the ones who make the rules and set the standards. Those universities decided decades ago that academics were an extremely unimportant part of NCAA athletics. They lowered the standards, lowered the requirements, to be academically eligible time and time again. (Back in the early 2000s I had a student who had played basketball at UNLV for 4 years. She was in my class at a junior college. She was academically in her sophomore year, not even close to earning an AA degree. But, she was eligible - by NCAA standards - to be considered academically eligible all 4 years of her time at UNLV.)

We are seeing the fruition of what the universities have been saying for years. Academics is a nuisance. It's optional, like wearing a tie to church, but it's not expected and certainly not necessary.
