From the "Field of Play" rules.

2.20 Pitcher’s Plate
The pitcher’s plate shall be a rectangular slab of whitened rubber or other
suitable material, 24 inches long and 6 inches wide. It shall
be fixed in the ground, and the top of the plate shall be level with the ground
surface. The nearer edge of the pitcher’s plate shall be 43 feet from the back
point of home plate.
