People say we dont have the resources in basketball to be top tier

What resources are we lacking?
We have pretty much a new LittleJohn
We have new practice facility
We have new players locker room
We pay our head coach in the upper half of pay scale for ACC coaches while his wins don’t reflect his pay

I seriously ask what else does Clemson basketball need?

The person that says that is a liar pimping Brownell

https://www.sportico.com/leagues/college-sports/2023/march-madness-2023-ncaa-top-seed-budgets-1234712159/

Clemson’s basketball operating budget in 2022 was $8.6 million - on par with Purdue, near median and average of the 64 teams that made the tourney, and after difference between Bill Self and Brownell’s salaries almost identical to Kansas.

He can post it as many times as he likes. It’s a complete lie.

Looking at the graphic in your link, I estimate (hard to tell exactly) 6 out of 28 Power 5 teams have a (slightly) lower budget than your quoted 8.8 m Clemson budget. Your assertion of the number of teams doing better with less budgets is disingenuous by including automatic qualifiers.

To be honest, to be a basketball first school. A d that will be er happen. But you can win at both. I think it was 2006 that Florida and Ohio State played each other for the basketball national championship. Those are both football schools. So it is possible. But may be more difficult at Clemson

Describe. Personally I think the talent is there to be a top 25 team. I think that the coach CAN BE a winner but (there’s always a but) But he needs to clean up a few things. Every game sees the Tigers out played for ten minutes or so and, in this league, that is a lot! The Good guys really played well today at home except for a short period that saw UVA take a small lead. The Tigers responded late and had a chance to pull it out. I have no idea how you can coach players to have that much needed killer instinct but it sure is lacking in this team. And others that BB has coached.

In close guys the Tigers get killed on the boards. That is something that should be possible to fix.

The game today really was a MUST win and should have been. The next game is a toughie. Let’s see how the good guys respond!

He is paid fairly. We are top half of the ACC on average under Brad.

Our facilities are nice. They don’t hold us back anymore, but they don’t have the wow factor.

A big issue we’ve had is a low budget for assistants. This has gotten better under Neff, but it’s still not what it could be.

As I’ve posted about in the past, we spend less on basketball than just about every other ACC team. Is that acceptable to you, assuming you want to have a program that is among the ACC’s best?

We also need to do a better job fighting the perception that we care too much about football at the expense of basketball. Nobody thinks we care much about basketball at Clemson. That makes recruiting even harder.

I hope this helps.

Littlejohn isn't a "hindrance"

He has assistants who are upcoming.

We have had plenty of talent.

We are not consistently in the upper half. Even if it were true, we have only, EVER, won 1 regular season championship and 0, I repeat ZERO, ACC tourneys.

I don't care what demographics you want to throw up, the previous statement is unacceptable. Other acc teams have won the tourney with less. Brownell has had his chances and has blown them like a $2 female of street working status. Brownell has had plenty of time to prove himself. He has failed miserably. Time he moves on

Basketball will always play second fiddle to football; there's no real way around it, even if they were to win the ACC and/or put together a string of runs in the tourney.

It always comes back to expectations, which you rightfully suggest are too low.

But...they're a basketball program wrapped inside a football school wrapped inside a basketball conference.

How high should expectations be?

There is no reason why, in, what, 70+ years in the acc, we have only won 1 regular season championship and 0 tourneys. Even as a football first school, this is unacceptable.

Not

Maybe we should be in the sec. We could probably win one there

Just make the tournament every once in a while. Maybe make a run in the tournament occasionally. That's really not asking to much . I believe the budget is there to accomplish this. If it can't be done then get rid of Basketball and give the money to Baseball and Softball.
