So I’ve been trying to figure out why we would drop a true freshman back to pass 56 times in his first start. Two things come to mind

1. The most logical, Tennessee’s pass defense was weak and we tried to exploit it. But even then you still have to establish the run, which we didn’t even seem to try.

2.my tin foil hat conspiracy. Even before the game got out of hand, Cade had already attempted what? 40 passes? That’s a lot for a true freshman in his first start. Is it at all possible that dabo let him take his lumps in a big game like that?

Just my thoughts, probably crazy but I’m bored here on a Thursday morning.

How do you establish the run when the offensive line looked like a bunch of limp noodles? Cade was lucky he wasn’t carted off to the hospital the way Beasley kept having free shots at him.

The run was there vs TN just like it was in the SC game. OL was making it happen. RB were making yards. But we had to get those passes in because... that's what we do.

I see your logic and I think in 2023 we should start out being
more run than pass and let Cade grow into the job.We have two
hoss RB's and probably more of a run block offensive line.Cade
can still pass 30 times a game.

There were some unused pass plays on the play sheet Streeter has and he just thought he might throw them out there and see what happens.He does not seem to have the ability to deviate from a ###### of plays. Either that, or the Waffle House Menu that Dabo carries was the passing game menu ONLY and not the running game or the Scrambled Eggs & Pancakes Special.

They were clearly trying to return to the glory days of the Chad Morris tempo thinking that would fix everything. It didn't. With 2 great backs returning next year along with most of the OL, we have to establish the run and then take advantage of what the defense gives us. I like tempo but it was crazy to put that on a true freshman in his first start. And it was kind of crazy to think the defense wouldn't be ready for it because they have seen it from their own offense every day in practice all year long.

I hope the time off to reflect and correct pays off on a number of fronts in 2023.

that Dabo had Cade throw all those passes so that he could say, "SEE, DJ WASN"T THE PROBLEM, WAS HE?"

I think it was a combination of thinking we had a more competent thrower back there, and then getting behind to the point we NEEDED to throw it a lot, that got us to the 56 total.
