Officials/FSU Drive before half

3

Oct 5, 2023, 5:22 PM

I know Referees make mistakes and it’s impossible to always be correct, or maybe not impossible.

But there were clear and obvious 2 mistakes my the officials in that final drive by FSU before half.

The first was a no call, guy was holding all over Xavier Thomas and it was so obvious I think the lineman had just given up trying to block him and started grabbing because he knew he had lost the battle.

As a line judge in that crucial situation of an enormous game, what are you looking at? How do these lineman keep getting away with it? I see it 1,000 times a game.

The second was that ridiculously bad pass interference call in the end zone. Sheridan J. had clearly made no significant contact that interfered with anything. They were both pushing and fighting, but it looked like a normal pass breakup.

Even if FSU were to only come up with 3, Clemson would have won the game.

I do not recall any bad calls in Clemson’s favor. Any pass interference that they called on FSU, there was evident reasons for why they threw the flag.

Cade getting bumped and maybe “acting”, I see where FSU fans may have been frustrated. But that’s on you if you go and do what he did to Cade out of bonds after the play.

The “mistakes” by ACC “refs” were intentional and had the intended result.

The calls and no-calls are not mistakes.

I just don’t understand the missed calls against us. I saw the same thing, Their QB was getting ready to be sacked by XT and if that happens FSU probably does not score before the half. The ref in the white hat was within 20 feet and was looking at it but no call. It was very upsetting to see him not call that. The Tigers have carried the water for this conference for the last 10 years but only jealously abounds seemingly from the officials( no telling of their agenda and where they live) as well as many of the other programs. Danny Ford put up with the same thing in his days. NC State beat us at their place year before last on a terrible against us pass interference. I see that same fat guy out there all the time.

I've watched all the FSU games this year. Since FSU is the "favored team" in the ACC, the referees seem to be "protecting" them. It was clear in the Boston College game... 18 penalties against BC for 134 yds (yeah, sports fans, that's a whopping 13 first downs for the 'Noles), while the Seminoles were flagged only 5 times for 45 yds. Just a little one-sided.

And, at the end of our game, we had a "missed" field goal. I thought he had made the kick, but I guess not. Then, at the beginning of the 'Cuse game, they showed the field goal attempt again, and I would swear I saw the shadow of the ball on the INSIDE of the left upright. But the official rushed to signal "no good" and we ended up losing the game.

But by far the worst facet of ACC officiating is spotting the ball. In the 'Cuse game, it seemed that the spot was CONSISTENTLY 1-2 yds behind the gain for Clemson, and a yard ahead of the gain for Syracuse. I would love for someone to watch the replay and tell me I'm wrong.

I've been saying it for years for whatever their reasons are, the Refs have been hard and terrible with the way they officiate a Clemson game, and I don't know if it's true or not, but I've said that they hate Clemson!!!

You make good points but we played the game and we came up on
the short end of the stick. Maybe that made us a better team.
Fla. State took advantage of our mistakes just like we did
Cuse. In the case of cuse we would have won without their
mistakes so we must move on and win.

That is fine and good but for the ACC officials take away from the play of our defensive line is inexcusable. When you can make that call from the top of the stadium these bozos 10 to 20 feet away should make the call. The ACC football officials are an embarrassment if you would only look at how they call a game. I think many are a holdover from the Tobacco Road gangs hired with Swoffies input. Just wait until the MC State game on the road. Take your pick of the bad calls against Clemson.

two weeks old. move on.

Refs are a constant variable for both teams and we benefited from as many as they did.

The ref didn't miss that field goal

They benefited with points from two bad calls on that drive.

At the FSU game my husband was shouting about the holding non-call right before halftime. He saw it from the north upper deck BUT the ref assigned to watch the line of scrimmage missed it??? From close range 🤡🤡. Makes no sense. One little missed call like that can really affect the outcome of a game.

XT was assaulted....

As bad as a hold can be. And it was in open view not in the trash. Ref had perfect view and was told in progress by crowd/sideline.....

Swimmer is 1000% correct....

To me the “proof” is Bryan Bresee. Really good d lineman, held ruthlessly. But rarely a holding call while at Clemson. His rookie season playing against OL light years better than what he faced last year in the ACC and he is tearing it up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Absolutely! Very good analogy!***

They had all day to put FSU away, but fiddled around. Dont blame the refs.

milking the clock. Clemson left way too much time for FSU.
