Not Trying to Tell Coach BB What to Do But....

I would call in one of those shooting experts in hopes of improving our 3 point shooting. I’ve read NBA teams sometimes do this. Poor shooting can be psychological and/or mechanics. Maybe one of these gurus can figure out what’s wrong.

Why not just foul the player last few seconds of regulation as he crossed center court. 2 points can't hurt when you have a 3 point lead. Of course I don't understand basketball.

If you're going to foul late in the game when up 3 points

you obviously don't want to do it too quickly since that would leave time on the clock for the other team to possibly beat you.

This is most commonly done with under 3 or so seconds left, depending on the game situation of course.

If you look across college basketball, teams win and lose games doing it both ways (fouling when up 3 as well as not fouling and playing defense). Of course we wish now that we had fouled, but what if we fouled, they made both free throws, and we can't inbound the ball? What if we had a turnover leading to the other team scoring the winning basket? A lot of chaotic things can happen, so it's not a surefire strategy (of course, neither is playing defense straight up in that situation).

I personally don't have a problem with the approach we took last night (Brad has done it both ways, FYI). I have a much bigger issue with us not trapping more late in regulation. That was a missed opportunity in my opinion. I also would've liked to see Chauncey Wiggins play more since Dillon Hunter's lack of offense isn't enough to compensate for his excellent defense when playing big minutes.

As poorly as we had been defending the three...

you take away that option and foul and half court or just past it, particularly with fewer than 5 seconds on the clock and up 3. In that scenario, the "what ifs" are going to work-out in your favor more often than not.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Hoping the improved OL will give Cade more time to scan the field for an open receiver.

Me too. To get the post back on track, I wonder if any BB players can catch football passes?

there are multiple boards on this website. This one is for football. I believe the one you want is basketball.
