No one supports Coach Swinney more than I do, but

He is going to have to use the portal to get Clemson back into the picture. His devotion to the guys he recruits is amazing but the game is changing quickly and the Tigers aren’t keeping up with the rest of college football. The QB situation is especially scary to me. Kids like Lawrence come along once in a lifetime. This off season will tell us if our team is going to remain a top program. It’s all about talent. Always has been. Today it’s easier to find.

I always wonder how much “say so” the assistant coaches have in developing the game plan. Riley is much better than what we saw this year. Does he have the authority to develop the offense and call the plays?

The next five or six months are going to be interesting in the football room.

Return to greatness OR hasbeens?

Do we have the players to run the kind of offense...

Riley was brought here to implement?

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

If not you change things to accommodate the talent that is available.

The accusation is that Dabo is in Riley's way and we'd be better off if...

Dabo sthu and let Garrett run the team. It's just a cheap backhanded shot at the best College Coach who lives today.

Listen you can sit here and lament not having the Tee Higgins or Mike Williams of the world anymore, but guess what? No one else does either. You work with what you got. And other teams put together far more efficient offenses with far less talent than Clemson has.

If there's a Lawrence in the portal Dabo will do his best to get him

If GR has two brain cells connected he has, and always will, make the best with what he has rather than changing them all to fit what he wants. I think that was a prequalifying factor.

Anyone who walks into a company and makes broad sweeping changes is going to put the company in a period of growth before production is increased by the new system. Unless you think that's what's happening then GR is simply dancing with his date at the ball.

That's not to say that our recruits from last year aren't fit to run GR's favored system but that they may not be ready to do so yet and don't have the elements around them to do so just yet.

We are already on the ROY bus and with an 8-4 record, probably seated somewhere toward the middle of the bus. A top program such as Alabama, we are not. Our offense is pathetic when it comes to planning, innovation, and execution. It’s about as exciting as watching the grass grow. Everybody has their view as to the remedy but I certainly hope the coaches can return the program to the upward peaks on the mountain. Don’t relish going back to the days of “Red Means Go”.

Depending on the transfer portal does not work. Georgia has the same number of transfers we do. Michigan and Ohio State have hardly any transfers. Same with Bama.

go 8-4, 10-2, and keep the culture. Chasing transfers for short term success doesn't seem like a good strategy. I'd rather see guys want to to come back like Ruke, TD, Etienne than risk losing it because we took transfers from Samford or Indiana. It's still college football, not pro, and there should be consideration given to that and turn it into a free agent culture that has no loyalty to the university.

than turn it****

I agree.

We will probably be only like 3-4 impactful transfers away from being in the playoff hunt. We have to wait and see who all leaves, but RB, WR, OL, DE, LB, and S could be positions where transfers are warranted.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So Dabo may be quiet quitting?

Any college would have to pay Clemson $100 million to hire Dabo, so he's looking to be fired? Huh?

friends and family hires, etc. only seem to affect the Offense and not our D, which has played at a championship level this season.

CK had a far better first year starter campaign than DJ managed here. If he improves at the level DJ did in his 2nd year as starter, with a 2nd year in Riley's system, we're in for a real treat in '24.

This team took on a lot of adversity this season, then rose to the occasion to finish out much stronger than most on here could have imagined. We could all use a little of that same fortitude as fans.

Go Tigers!
