Need restaurant / bar help!

3

Jul 27, 2023, 6:07 PM

Fellow Tnetters - need some advice. Will be in Clemson for a conference in a couple of weeks with dozen coworkers. Lot of Tar Holes in the group. Want to show them what Clemson is all about and hopefully start the conversion process for some!! So - where would you take them for dinner and what watering holes should be a must?? Thanks for ideas.

Take them to Walk-Ons for food. If they are a beer drinking crowd go to Keowee Brewing in Seneca. It’s a cool little restored downtown location and Alex makes great craft beer. A stop at the Esso Club at some point in the visit is a must if you want them to experience Clemson.

Or if they are a real informal group go to Joes Pizza in Patrick Square then maybe Kite Hill Brewing almost right next door (but for a brewery it’s hard to beat Keowee Brewing).

If you want to part with a bunch of money take them to Rick Erwin’s in Patrick Square.

Still the best IMHO..

1. Calhoun Corners..

(in an old Mercantile 2-story building opp train station at intersection of College Hwy 143).

2. Pixie & Bill’s

(on Hwy 143 near same intersection).

Great food, service, atmosphere & bar.

Lakeside Lodge for a great Clemson environment right on Hartwell. Traditions is the restaurant. Good food.
Dabos place downtown very bland. Lots of TVs though.
Calhoun Corners and Pixie Bills may appeal to an older crowd
Rick Erwin’s is excellent but is on the $$ side
Esso is a must
Mellow Mushroom has great pizza and is very Clemson.

I'm a big fan of The Blue Heron, which had to move to Pendleton when their building was razed for a new development.

If you want authentic Clemson and not the “nouveau riche”, take them to Sloan Street Tap Room and introduce them to Jimmy Howard. Beer only, but STILL $1 draft beer. From 2 pm to 7 pm. 44 years of Clemson history in there!

My personal opinion is to NOT go to

Rick Irwins. Mine and my wife's meal was very bland. Haven't been back since. Would rather go to Bojangles.

Calhoun Corners or Pixie & Bill's are our go-to places.
