He's the QB at NCSU who told the coaches he was not playing after playing four games. Said he wanted to preserve his redshirt.

Has 3 years of eligibility left.

I may be way off base here bc things are looked at much differently in today's college football climate. But that is definitely not the type of attitude I would want as my starting QB. Couple of rough patches here and there and he's gone back to the portal leaving you high and dry

Let someone else have him. That whole "benching myself" stuff doesn't sit well with me. Maybe he's listening to a helicopter dad or agent (whoops, I mean adviser). We've had a QB like that. No thank you.

It's a gray area because they didn't offer him the starting spot until after their 1 year portal QB failed miserably.

I don't think he owed any loyalty to NC State based on that.

Either they weren't willing to pay him or he was pissed about the portal QB and just wanted out.

Sorry if anyone got that impression.

I just remember him using the excuse "I'm saving my redshirt."

At the time most folks were saying, "He's hitting the portal. He just wants 3 years of eligibility left when he does."

They were right.

I think he did that just to see what kind of offers he would get and I guess somebody said they'd pay him more than NCSU was willing or able. Sucks for them but they did bring in a hired gun of their own this season so what goes around comes around I suppose.
