Minnesota has redeemed themselves for me

I went to a different college but bragged about my Tigers all the same. My girlfriend at the time was a Georgia fan. We ribbed each other about how our teams would win, the other's would lose, etc.

So we then went home for Christmas break.

If you'll remember, the Gophers topped my Tigers 20-13 in the 1985 Independence Bowl. Georgia tied somebody. But at least they didn't lose. That was a short Christmas break knowing I had to face Connie when I got back.

So, though I did not marry Connie, I still thank the Gophers today for making up for a dreaded Christmas break return to a girlfriend who would let me know about it.
