people should already be convinced. there has hardly been a drop off.
outside of the prevent defense to end the half against FSU i can't think of any real glairing mistakes that he has made.
Are people aware that 1/3rd of points scored against us were off of turnovers?

This season proved what many who understand football defenses...

knew after watching Wes his first season. Wes was playing the hand he was dealt with youth/inexperience in the secondary. That hamstrung the way he played his front 7. This season showed two things...
1) Player development. (The secondary that was a liability became a strength)
2) Front 7 play/strategy. (We got a better idea of what his defensive package/strategy is with the front 7)
Year one of Wes at DC was a great litmus test to determine which outspoken fans truly understand defense, and which ones don't.

Also, in year 2 one of the biggest differences that I noticed

was how much more he blitzed and sent additional pressure against the qb.
I saw a stat that said there was only 1 team that blitzed more than Clemson did last year.

#2 on my list is you see his front 7 strategy, which is an aggressive blitzing defense. He was unable to do that year 1 because his secondary needed help.

I'm wondering if Wes was the brains behind the Venables defenses.

He definitely gets young people on the field sooner, especially at linebacker, where Brent made it more difficult for the young ones to get on the field. Wes likes more speed on the field to avoid unfavorable matchups with linebackers in the passing game and against QB runs and to get more pressure on the QB from different positions.
People seem to forget about the times our defenses were the weakness under Venables.

but there were times his defense was a liability. Wes appears to be great as well, but there will be times his defense is a liability as well. I think both are very good at what they do.

also complained when Dabo hired Wes Goodwin. Keep that in mind when deciding who to trust on matters of running a college football program.

JK complained vociferously about Goodwin until doing an abrupt about-face and demanded to know why his raise hadn't already been announced. Shockingly he never acknowledged the mistake in his initial thinking.
