What show be done, is ant school that don't end their FB season ranked in the top 25, they only get a 10% share of the FB money. You would see some of those schools getting busy at building a competitive FB program....

So if 12 teams don’t finish in the top 25, those 12 get 120% of the money? How does that work?

IF it happens, you're missing a good visit to Palo Alto.

Aug 19, 2023, 7:46 AM

Plenty of fun stuff to do on an extra long weekend once every couple years, with your Tigers as an excuse to be there. Tons of stuff to do within a couple hour drive of there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That’s the only benefit for me.

Aug 19, 2023, 8:41 AM [ in reply to Re: latest on the cal stanford deal ]

I would hate it for the non football team but I can’t wait to visit San Francisco again to see our Tigers play!

Very interested in these "concessions"! Will the ACC make it worth our vote?

I've got a feeling this will happen the way it keeps coming up with big names pushing the idea.

Clearly, a lot of pressure is being applied to make it work.

With the 4 remaking PAC teams to beat the SEC B10 $ Biag 12 to 24 teams

Good grief we got to get out of the ACC. Leadership is so lacking.

Iah this is the only path for the ACC to be viable...it's certainly a lagging effort but its still the only option for the ACC...if they are going to do this and all parties coming in are willing to give up their shares for the next 5 years then ... yeah this needs to be done.::take stanford, cal, org st, wash st, and smu..::thats 200 mil to be split approximately amongst the 14 AcC schools...clemson and fsu need to dand 30% of that...between the 2 ... then let the future play itself out...just a thought!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Leave the ACC immediately if this happens!

2

Aug 19, 2023, 5:22 AM

Get out and get out fast and in a hurry! This is a retarded idea! No amount of concessions will suffice to have no revenue athletics flying 3,000 miles to compete. ZERO LOGICAL SENSE!

The ACC is truly the most stupid leadership in the world and that is truly saying something given Biden (the puppet for Obama) and Putin.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson won't have to travel west that often, it's those 2

Aug 19, 2023, 7:49 AM

schools that will bear most of the burden. But yeah, it's not logical for college sports. But then again all anyone seems to care about is money, including many on this board. I mean, Clemson has been doing pretty awesome in the ACC, competing nationally in many sports.

If Stanford (especially) and Cal could stay competitive in the Olympic sports, it would be a tremendous boost to those at Clemson.

Only if it results in $70+ million/year

4

Aug 19, 2023, 5:13 AM

Per school does it make any sense. Otherwise just say no. Why in the world would you ever take on a bunch of elitist snobs and require your non-revenue teams to fly 3,000+ miles to compete and dilute your annual team payout that is already way below market value even further. Who in their right mind makes business decisions like this?

My guess, Swofford would. Look at the last deal he made. ‘Nuff said!

Still regard all that as grasping for straws

1

by the ACC, although that's meant as no disrespect for the west coast schools.

Thus, I hope Clemson (and FSU at least) remain in firm opposition, even if they are the only two, for it remains a clarion call to the conference.

They haven't had a vote yet because they don't have the votes to pass it. Pretty easy to see that. The only "concessions" I care about are ones that would allow an easier exit from the conference.

So if ACC takes these schools, does that mean the schools that voted NO gets out of GOR for free? If so, bring them on!

Re: latest on the cal stanford deal

Aug 19, 2023, 9:29 AM

The ACC is a sports league. Football is king. Too many schools in this conference don’t get this. Adding these schools just adds to that list.
