bandwagon. In my opinion overall, 13 mediocre years. However, I thought that the team looked well coached today. Running sets on offense, aggressive man on defense. And more attention to rebounding it seemed. Well done

I get it. I'm just not one of them. I get all the analytics, statistics, etc, but I also know what I see and what I know about the program.
Brad has to make the tournament this year or we should move on. However, he's much better for Clemson that some will give him credit for.

but you would be b badly wrong. I don't look forward to any day that Brad Brownell continues as our BBall Coach, much less "love" to be "down" on him. I'd much rather we move on, now, having made that decision without regard what happens in the future. 13 years - it's long since time.
To the OP's point, the team looked much better today than at any point in the first 3 games. Much better.
My impression is that Boise is not yet as good as some on here would like to make them out to be, regardless what they did last year. Their supposed All-Mountain West forward, Degenhart, may have a lot to do with that. He was outclassed across the board by Clemson's front line. Didn't appears even as athletic as Schieffelin. We won't do that to everyone on our schedule. But if Boise's best player can be stoned in this manner, it doesn't bode well for them. Secondly, their athleticism is very suspect at all positions, another issue we won't face much.
Key point for today's game: any time C Hunter and J Girard shoot better than 50% from both 2 AND 3, then the offense is going to look good. In other words, making shots makes you look better than not. But to be fair, we at least ran the offense today - unlike against Davidson - and it showed in the outcomes.
2nd Key point for now: YTD we were shooting 47% of our total shots as 3-pointers coming into today - almost one (1) 3-pointer for every 2-pointer. Today we were at one (1) 3-pointer for every three (3) 2-pointers, or 25% of total shots as 3-pointers. Amazing how much better the offense did, isn't it?

it isn't just "opinion" that Brownell cost us the 2013-14 NCAAT invite

by himself with one moronic decision. Coaches are supposed to get teams over the hump, not drag them down.
It's also not just opinion that Brownell never publicly apologized for this grievous error, nor even made out that an "error" had been made.
Finally, he also never has taken public responsibility for not getting KJ McDaniels, Jaron Blossomgame, nor Donte Grantham to the NCAA Tournament. PJ Hall has never made it yet either.
This tells me all I need to know about the man - what he is, and what he most assuredly isn't. You can believe the Pied Piper all you want.....

I gotta give it to you man. Non only do you spew negativity incessantly, but your arguments that YOU believe aren't even based in fact!
I think I realize why Brownell "hasn't taken public responsibility for not getting Donte Grantham or PJ Hall to the tournament".... Because they both went to to the tournament! Weird how he was supposed to apologize publicly for something that never happened!
Since you obviously don't follow and certainly don't support our guys who wear the paw and spend thousands working to be the best they can, I can understand how you wouldn't realize Donte Grantham tore his acl mid-season as one of the leading scorers on a team... That went to the Sweet 16! But obviously you were clueless then as well.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401310898
Pay no attention to that box score of the NCAAT game that... PJ Hall played in!
Carry on with your clueless life olemike59
We're all reading along laughing at your unbelievable ignorance and pure stupidity. Do us a favor and keep the TV turned off this season while we trot out one of the best teams in the ACC on the hardwood for a second consecutive year. Looking forward to the next incorrect garbage you spew olemike59

I had completely forgotten the whole 2 minutes that PJ Hall played in a desultory home NCAA loss to Rutgers in the post-Covid year.
LOL, how could I have forgotten? I'm sure that experience in and of itself made Hall's time at Clemson complete!
As to Grantham, I stand by what I wrote: Grantham never played in an NCAA game, hurt or not.
You see, this is exactly why you Brownell Bros. will never, ever get it. You make this out like it's some big thing. Two minutes, dude. 2 freaking minutes.
Given that Hall grabbed a whole one Rebound, that means he probably leads the All-time Clemson category for Rebounds per Minute - 0.500! Hang the banner in Littlejohn!!
Eff Brownell. You get exactly what you deserve.

It's ok Mike. You're just an internet loser. I understand it's hard for your pathetic pea brain to comprehend facts.
Do yourself a favor, don't watch the games this season. You won't like what you see. It will go completely against your incorrect, false and flat out wrong opinions that you believe are facts haha.
Just because you say something doesn't mean it's true.
Really genius intellect in your statement about Grantham also. It's a shame he was hurt on that Sweet 16 team. Who knows how much further we could've gone.

of objectives after the 2014 season; one in which Brownell cost us the NCAAT invite himself with one moronic decision, and after which the AD (Radakovich) gave him a new 6-year contract.
Brownell has been allowed to survive then by meeting the NIT-standard, when he has shown repeatedly that he cannot consistently, or even often, COACH at a level that would deliver more than that standard.
In essence, the Clemson AD's Office has been lying to Clemson Alumni and Fans for the last 10 years.

If we set BB aside for a moment, I think he hired a good man for baseball, and good coaches for our Ladies programs that has them being competitive right away. I think he is also doing a good job with building first rate facilities to make us more attractive and competitive.
So no, there is more evidence that he is getting the job done than just what is happening with our Men's BB coach. I would agree that BB expectations are high for this year and failing to make the Big Dance another year will put him in a spot to test his fortitude at making another key decision.

In the toughest games and toughest moments, Brownell's teams consistently fail. This reflects their coach's conservatism, lack of recruiting, and paralysis by analysis in big moments.
e.g. See 2023 Morehead State game and every other season. I arrived at Clemson in 1979 as a lifetime ACC basketball fan, and have attended ACC tourneys, three final fours, and dozens of NCAA tourneys. I know good basketball, and I'm all out.
Good luck and no hard feelings.

Hey SocMan2 - what Final 4's have you gone to?
Nov 20, 2023, 2:05 PM
|
|
Me, I've been to every one that Brad sent too to, LOL, and then several from the 70's and 80's:
1969 - LA: Lew Alcindor wiped the floor with the Heels (I was only 9) 1974 - G'boro: The King is Dead, Long live the King. 1977 - Atlanta: Maybe the best Final 4 grouping ever - and the worst winner, LOL. 1981 - Philadelphia: Bobby K wins his 2nd, and Dean is still empty-handed. 1982 - Superdome: the birth of MJ23 1983 - Albuquerque - long way to go to see some V Magic 1991 - Indianapolis: two ACC teams for the 2nd year in a row - my last
I had a step-Dad who was a big Tar Heel grad and fan, so most of my trips were with him. Great scene, no doubt. Great learning experience as well.

Idjit. Brownell wins with the best players Clemson can get, and almost always does better than they're picked. It's a semi-rural "football" school, and the majority of great basketball players want a city environment or want to play for a school with a basketball name. With some ups and downs, Brownell has gradually improved our recruiting. If you want 5-star recruits every year, become a Dukie or a tarhole, which you probably envy.
