I’ve heard rumblings that our OL is shaping up better than advertised

This is encouraging because we know the DL is full of absolute studs.
Anyone hearing the same?
Don’t let the guys on ESPN or the ROAR fool you. It all begins and ends in the trenches!

Our O-line wasn't as bad as they were made out to be last year. Every time we came out in 2-TE's we were running the ball and defenses knew it. DJU couldn't hit water from the end of a pier and defenses knew it. Word is Lincoln Riley is just as liable to throw down the seam in a 2-TE set as he is to run it.
As a whole I think all this offense needs is to face live bullets from opposition as opposed to one another. Past time for colleges to be allowed to scrimmage another team within driving distance.

Agreed. Run blocking was pretty darn good.
Think there was a little more room for improvement on the pass blocking despite the fact that dj was moving around last year like he had cinder blocks for cleats

Yeah I agree the o line made big strides last season vs the previous year. If we see another step forward this season then the skies the limit.

The OL sounds good. The fact that there was fighting yesterday suggests that there are good battles along the line. And I agree, the game is won or lost in the trenches.

The challenge is when the competition stepped up the OL stepped back, i.e. ND and TN. I do think experience matters and hope they have corrected some things and can be right there against some of the better D-lines we will face this year.
If Cade can get the ball out a little quicker because our WRs get out of their breaks quicker then that will take some pressure off the OL in pass protection. I think we will be OK in the run game but just want to see us hold our own against the big boys.

There was a coot that got his posts zapped, that's who he was responding to.

It doesn't matter but he did comment under my comment so it didn't feel like he was talking about someone else.

First 5 are better than last years group. The 2 deep is also improved and getting better. Still need more depth but we are getting there. Austin brought in some studs last year so he's got a lot to work with. This team has more fight in them which translates to being more physical and most importantly the o line who is much aware they've been singled out and is looking to make amends.

I like the depth we have. Tate started 8 games as a freshman and 11 games last year before getting hurt against Miami.
Two years learning "the hard way"! Blake Miller a full year learning "the hard way"!
Putnam - was good at center and we have him back. W. Parks is solid as they come.
Tristan Leigh was a 5-star LT coming out of H.S. He also played basketball; which speaks to his athleticism.
I like who will likely start and I like who will likely back them up! The 2021 class should have a really good year this year on the OL. I look for the 2022 players(Saddler/Miller) to play a ton of snaps and contribute heavily.

I'm not buying it. This is the first time in 10 years we haven't had a future first rounder at defensive end. Both our starting ends are UDFA right now. Thomas has a chance to become a 5th rounder or so but don't hold your breath on anyone else.
Understood, we have good D.Tackles but there aren't any game breakers there either. Maybe woods goes first round in a few years; everyone else is third round or worse.

He hasn’t been able to stay healthy
but when he is healthy he is elite - no one can stop him around the edge
If he proves he can stay healthy this year he will go in the mid first to second rounds

We have gone from the absolute worst, most predictable play callers in the history of college football to hopefully one of the best and brightest. Nothing worse for an offensive lineman than to run a play when the man across from you knows exactly what is coming. That has been the case for the past 2 years with Elliott & Streeter. Keeping the defense guessing will do wonders for offensive line play. Can't wait to watch it.
