times. Yesterday was the first time, I have ever been scared for my life. I was heading out to get MfOjr. when I heard some distant thunder. I checked the radar and saw a storm heading our direction. I started up #9 and begin running into some rain, and then it HIT!!!. My wipers couldn't keep up with the water, hail began falling and the wind became fierce. I pulled over in a ladies yard just to get off of the road. My truck begin to sway, limbs and debris began flying, a tree in front started bending and looked as if it was about to snap or uproot. I didn't know if I was about to be blown away by a tornado and wasn't sure if one was approaching. I honestly started to think, I was not going to see MfOjr. again. I was about to get out and lay on the ground. Finally the wind eased. I exhaled and eased up on the butt squeezing. I called MfOjrmom to make sure they were alright and headed on my way. I honestly believe that was the most scared I have ever been in my 54 years.

I'm not scared of much, but even milder storms put me on edge. I've certainly never been in a storm where I thought my life might be in danger. It's good to hear you and MfOjr. were not harmed.

Any hail damage on your truck?
I can relate. When the tornados hit Seneca in 2020, I heard the wind and went to the back deck door to see what was going on. The power was out and I heard and felt a large crash. I lit up my phone flashlight and shined it on the door glass. I couldn't see anything but tree. A large oak had fallen on our deck and just a couple of feet from where I was standing. It tore the roof over the fireplace to my left but not where I was standing. By the Grace of God I was uninjured. I was too stupid to be scared then but now I get the willies any time a storm comes up.

I had a similar experience once - I pulled off the highway onto a side road and just stopped. Tree limbs were flying sideways and debris covered my truck. Thought for sure a tornado had passed nearby. A couple of minutes seemed like an eternity. Glad you are safe and sound.

They’re hard to find now but a 1995 red Dodge Ram is the ticket to surviving even a twister should you be chasing a storm or having one chase you.

Glad everything turned out ok. We went through a hurricane on St Thomas in 1995 and I’ve said ever since then that I don’t ever want anything to scare me like that again. The kids were 5 and 1 and I was just so scared something was going to happen to them. We were huddled in my daughter’s bedroom under a mattress for a few hours. We lost about a third of our roof and everything in the house including us got soaked but we made it out ok. Amazing what happens to particle board furniture when it gets wet…

recall really being terrified was the first time I threw my assssss out the door of a perfectly safe aircraft capable of landing on God's earth.
That was my first qualifying jump in the Army Airborne Corps at Ft. Benning, Georgia, barely a month after graduating from Clemson. I asked one of the Corps NCO's what his thoughts would be if his parachute failed to open. He replied, "How quickly I can bend over and kiss my assssss goodbye!"
Welp, that was good enough for me, and off I went into the wild, blue yonder. Like you it was a situation where I was hoping and praying mightily that the good Lord would see to it that the "storm" I faced would spare my soul............and here I am 55 years later about to turn 76. I suppose the Almighty wants you around to look after Junior a while longer........

I was in jump school in October that year and our first jump was from a WWII vintage plane that rattled like it was going to fall apart taking off - made a lot of us glad that we left the plane before it landed. I think they retired those planes to some South American country shortly after that. Our other 4 jumps were from modern jets - maybe C-141s?

It’s the scariest event out there. We’ve had several hit our farm through the years, and they are horrible. We work so hard to save, build, etc, and it can be gone in a flash. Glad y’all are safe. God is Great, for sure!!!

Myfav, there is very few things that I fear, but mother nature can scare the H E L L out of me. When I was 7, where we lived there was one of those really huge oak trees in our yard, and a Tornado came down in our yard and it blew that huge oak down like it was a twig. The root diameter was probably 30-40 ft, and that Tornado sucked it out of the ground with ease, and I have been deathly scared of mother nature ever since that day. If it can rip a tree the size of that one out of the ground, to me it's a Real monster!!!
