14 years??? you mean 100+ years (or however long we've had a basketball program). we are what we have always been.. an average AT BEST basketball program. and i'm not "hatin'". i'm just calling a spade a spade. the "haters" are the ones with unrealistic expectations. we've never... NEVER.. been past the sweet 16 and we've only been there, what, twice? or three times, maybe? we're not a basketball school. we're a football school. football is where the money goes.. it's where the fans go.. it's where the emphasis goes. it's where we look to subsidize other programs.
what i can't figure out more than our poor performance on the hardwood is some people's reaction to the poor performance on the hardwood. we are the same team every single year. and that goes back WAY before brownell got here.

Part of his post is correct. Why hasn't Duke or Kentucky or Kansas ever accomplished anything on the FB field? They have bazillions of $$.
No culture of winning means no recruiting. If you compiled a list of the greatest 100 players in ACC history, how many would we have? And please don't say 4 pts a game Tree Rollins.

you might say it's "clown mentality", but exactly what part am i wrong about? (btw, we did make it to the elite 8 over 40 yrs ago. so,.. imho,.. the only "clown mentality" is the mentality that we should be pissed w/ the current state of our b-ball program when we've never been anything but.... what we are.
i look at you like clemson fans look at gamecock fans when they say stuff like "why not us?" i bet you think they're pretty stupid when they say stuff like that, huh? haha..

It is clown mentality to think we should just throw in the towel and accept our fate. We are throwing money at better facilities and better assistant coaches. Why not do the same with our HC position?

You can’t fix stupid. These are people who think when their wife cheats a few times a year that it’s ok. Or, when their investments only yield 1% roi yet don’t fire their broker. It could be worse, they think. It is what it is. SMH. We can be as good as any school at any sport. We just have to invest into the program. Funny we were able to build a top 10 softball program from dust. We would have never won football championships with Dabo and thinking like these fools.

You do realize that 3 of our 4 previous coaches went to the tournament as many times and with more frequency than BrownL has in 14 years, right???
No sane Tiger fan is expecting Final Four or even Sweet Sixteen. In this day and age of expanded tournaments and a significantly weaker ACC, we just want a bid to the dance more years than not.
14 years has been plenty of time to realize BrownL isn't the guy.

my post isn't in support of brownell.. my post is just recognizing that we are who we are when it comes to basketball. we could bring in whoever you want and i'll bet my last dollar we'd still produce about the same. that's my point. and, i only have the entire history of the program to back that point.

school" crap does not wash anymore, if it ever did. Just take a look at the SEC Mens Basketball Tournament bracket. You know, the SEC, that football conference, which somehow, the pundits agree has now passed the ACC in BASKETBALL. Three of the top four seeds in that tournament, getting those double byes, are FOOTBALL SCHOOLS, Tennessee, Auburn, and Alabama. Only Kentucky is considered a "basketball" school.
If fans like you had their way, Tommy Bowden would still be our coach, and we would be giddy over nine win football seasons, because "that is our ceiling, what more should we expect?" Remember that narrative? You should, I am sure you were among those trumpeting it.
Clemson can be as good in basketball as we want to be. Period. We just have to get rid of YOUR mentality that we do not deserve any better than what we have historically settled for. If everyone were like you, we would still be bending a knee to Your Majesty, the Monarch of the United Kingdom, as his Loyal Subjects. Because, hey, that's what we had always done.

Alabama is a football school - fired their coach after 4 seasons ; Ohio State is a football school - fired there coach after disappointing seasons. Examples of football schools that desire better for basketball. What is Clemson's problem?

Just curious if it’s ever been reported - what are CBBs goals for the Clemson basketball program? Has he ever stated “We want to win the ACCT” “We want to get to the Elite 8 and take our shot” “We want to win 16+ games a year and fail any time we have a chance to take a big step”.
I don’t think he has ever given the fan base a glimmer of what he hopes for Clemson to accomplish.

This team is one of our most talented teams we have had in years. Not being a basketball school just means it is unrealistic to win national championships not win in the first round of acc tournament.

all i know is when we were beating bama and carolina and memphis, etc... everyone was like "this is our year!.. blah blah blah".. and, all i said was "i'll wait and see cause i've seen this song and dance every single season". and, so far... i was right.
i'll make a prediction: we win our first game in the ncaat and look pretty dang good doing it.. and, look awful the second. this is clemson basketball.
i wish we'd be great in ALL sports.. but, i just don't understand the fans that are up in arms about our basketball team when that's all they've ever known. do you think duke fans are questioning the football program even though they've had NFL talent on their team recently? no. why? cause they're duke and they know who they are.

UoSC isn't a basketball school and made it to the final 4
UGA isn't a basketball school and made it to a final 4
Florida isn't a basketball school and won back-to-back national championships
Alabama's not a basketball school and has made it to maybe 10 sweet 16s and an elite 8.
There are other examples.
Clemson isn't a basketball school. That is true. But there is no reason we can't aspire to more.

That’s a small and tired mindset. Don’t tell me basketball isn’t lucrative as too earning schools profit in the hundreds of millions per year in basketball. There is a direct correlation between dollars spent and success. Thoughts like yours would have kept Clemson Football in the cellar as well. We had one line championship in 1981 u til we got lucky on a coach with a vision. Build the best facilities, hire the best coaches and the elite player follow. Championships are won that way. If Dabo can do it, why can’t we do it?! UConn, St. John’s, Dayton, UNLV, Loyola, Marquette, VCU, Butler, Georgetown, and a laundry list of other tiny schools have built legit championship programs. They definitely don’t have Clemson’s war chest of cash. It’s small minded thinking like yours that makes schools stagnate. SMH. Why not Clemson?! Spend the money. Build the best basketball facilities, hire the best coaches money can buy, the McDonalds All-Americans will line up. One and done and Banners to hang from the rafters. There’s a very large and growing number of alumni and boosters starting to get tired of mediocrity. We can be as good as we want. We just have to do it.

Clemson basketball looks eerily similar toSCAR football historically. Which of those two is better positioned to improve their status going forward? I’m not arguing to fire Brad or to keep Brad…just making an observation about who we are and where we are.
But to the Coots’ credit, they did hire a couple of legendary football coaches, and both of them achieved marginal success…at least temporarily. Does kryzewski still have anything in the tank?
