October just saw the economy tack on 500,000+ jobs, saw the Dow soar, saw every economic indicator go all bright and sunny. And of course, there's Joe Biden going: "it was the action I took at the beginning of my term that laid the groundwork for this recovery"....

Yeah, whatever, Joe.

We blame presidents way too much for individual peaks and valleys and act like they're in control, and when things go good - especially under Trump but it's been all of them - they like to take credit, and then show empty pockets when stuff goes bad. But they aren't in control. We're all beholden to a truly epic number of outside forces on the market...and COVID was an absolute whopper, disrupting nearly every link on the global supply chain and then disrupting those some more and the ripple effects keep coming, and they'd have come under Trump - probably worse, honestly, the guy is just so incredibly disruptive - or Biden or any random schmo we put in office.

The stock market is at an all-time high. Trump would be crowing about that right now, and you MAGA Worlders would all be crowing with him. But guess what: the stock market is completely divorced from reality and has been for a long while now.

Something's going to cause it to tumble, at some point. Stuff always self-corrects eventually. And guess what: it's likely not going to be Trump or Biden who has anything to do with that either, but a systemic push in the greater global economy that causes it.

But God help whatever president inherits it...because that guy is effed. The mob like you - on either side, really - has just one response when things go bad: Throw The Bums Out. Regardless of whether anybody in particular is really responsible or not.

ignore - the Labor Participation rate. The unemployment numbers are largely BS because they don't include those working-age folks that have stopped seeking employment. The most recent Labor Participation rate is 61.6% (i.e. only 61.6% of the US working-age population - age 16 and over - is in the work force). That leaves roughly 1/3 of the working-age population not participating in the work force (roughly 100,000,000 people).

That is NOT the lowest participation rate the USA has had (back in the old days when most women did not work it was lower) but it has been on a downward trajectory since 2000 and has finally dropped to levels we saw back in the mid '70s. When the USA has this many people not participating in the workforce, that is a significant amount of tax dollars not being generated as well as denying industry/the economy the much needed labor it needs to spur economic growth.

The President and Congress need to stop passing these trillion dollar spending bills that are mostly funded by printing new money and pass bills that encourage people to get off the sidelines and join the work force.

Right now jobs are available (some 10,000,000 (+) are still unfilled) but if we don't get the labor force ramped up those available jobs are going to disappear as businesses stop growing/shut down and the economy will slow to a crawl. We have a short amount of time to fend off the "stagflation" that is starting to spark and yet the powers that be in DC seem to want to pour gasoline on it instead of putting it out.
