I'm sure if the Committee knew they were voting for 12 teams, they would have been able to squeeze in 1 more SEC team for ESecPN. 😉

FSU would have been ranked higher because they should have been but biggest factor is the committee wasnt bouncing the SEC as UGA would have made it too. I think FSU would have been third and then Tex, Bama, Uga then the rest. Ohio St, Oregon, Liberty, then maybe Okla, Mizzou, Ole Miss for another SEC, maybe last Tulane, Penn st, or SMU.

If you believe the TV $$$ conspiracy angle then it would actually be good business to have Bama play in one more game, right?

Also, since the decision is much less impactful than leaving a team out of the playoff entirely I think the committee may have chosen to not rock the boat and just put fsu 4th.

They would have put FSU at 3 (losing out to Michigan and Washington on tie break guidelines). Then the 1-loss P5 champions would have been compared with Texas getting the edge over Bama on H2H. The pressure to leave SEC out of a bye wouldn’t have been as overwhelming as leaving them out of CFP entirely.
