"one camera" broadcasts of baseball and softball earlier in the season. Here is the text:

XXXX (My Name, redacted to save me from the weirdos)

Thank you for reaching out. Really apologize for my delay in response ... but very much glad to be connected!

Certainly don't like the events (eight of them in total for the full year) that we have "one camera" shoots. And they've certainly all stacked up here over the past few weeks of this "overlap" season ... basketballs, gymnastics, lacrosse, baseball, softball all ongoing.

We have made every effort to cover in full as many events as we can, both through our internal staff, which puts on 200 broadcasts annually, as well as contract vendors.

Unfortunately, due to the availability of some of those contractors, as well as conflicts due to other sports, we have eight athletic events this year that are one-camera shoots. We also have high standards for our production crew, and they are top-level at what they do.

The stacking of events due to 'classics' for softball, along with the need to have "two productions" for all basketball and gymnastics events (one for TV, one for the videoboard) causes these conflicts. Also we're unable to just 'flip' from one sport to the other... meaning, if basketball has a game at 7p, that causes a production conflict event for a 2p baseball game, so to speak.

In the past, conflicts like this would not have been possible to have video coverage. However, our staff was committed to exhausting all options to make the events available to our fans via video and audio, as well as making instant replay available to our teams and providing a great in-venue video experience. As such, we apologize that this small number of games is not available for full broadcast - we prioritized putting them on in a limited production rather than not at all.

We do not anticipate this issue beyond this coming weekend, and we are looking ahead to next year for options to further address this. Hope some of that info helps with understanding (not an excuse, just the reality of the circumstances). Thank you again for reaching out and expressing your concerns.

Another big weekend on campus. I’m watching the FSU baseball game from Memphis as I type this! Go Tigers!

I’ve been very happy with the thoroughness and sincerity of his responses to email, even when I’ve disagreed with some of his decisions. Glad he took the time to answer your questions.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

That is cool. I never received a response from my two emails. Glad he got the message.

Thanks for sharing. I met Graham after a Business and Brews in downtown Greenville a couple years back and he shared 15 minutes with me answering questions and was utterly gracious. His response to your mail had the exact tone and demeanor. He's a great guy and I'm happy we have him.

I have no way to watch the games that have had 1 camera but having grown up in the 50's and 60's, a single camera is better than none. Football games were always at 1:00 on Saturday and were rarely televised on the road when I was not there. The ACC had the Jefferson Pilot game of the week on Saturday afternoons and we would be on 2 or 3 times a year. Baseball on tv, forget it. In 2024, we are blessed to see every football game, many basketball games and a few baseball games a year so I for one am happy for that.
