Coach Reed has done a really nice job with the DBs

Nov 2, 2015, 7:00 PM

I think his experience has really helped them. And I bet his NFL experience is attractive to DB recruits .

I like MReed a lot

But I also think I could coach most of these guys and have them look good!

Not saying he's not a good coach, just saying he has a lot of talent

Two words to illustrate Coach Reed's worth...Gary Peters. Totally different dude under Reed than Cheese.

Yep. And what about Cordrea? He's still relatively young and I know played last year, but there was a brief time when it looked like he was going to be the forgotten man (fall camp 2013, 2014, 2015) man...and he's playing as well as any DB in the country.

Agree and Tank is probably in the same boat.***

I agree. He is one of several great hires by Mr. Swinney.

The underneath coverage needs to improve a little. FSU will learn some things watching film of the ncsu game

I pose this questions .... Why do teams not punt the ball out of bounds anymore? Remember when the 'coffin corner' was a phrase that you heard during games?

I am not completely sold - N.D. & NC State lit us up pretty

Nov 2, 2015, 7:22 PM

well - Lots of talent but giving up 235 yds against NC state????? I hope I am wrong, and if stationary qb plays for FSU, our dl should have bunch of sacks, however, if Golson plays, with his running ability like NCS qb, I am concerned. Am I off base? - Hope so!

Jacoby Brisset?

I seriously don't think anyone's exaggerating when they say he's the strongest QB in college football.

He looked like Roethlisberger out there on Saturday. I don't know, Golson actually worries me less now that we've seen the young mobile guy from ND, Kayya and now Brisset.

Teams have learned from watching film that if they can isolate a receiver on our L Bs

"isolate a receiver on our linebackers" O.K.***

A bunch of those yards are the LBs fault not CB . Our weakness in the secondary is Green

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The DB's are not the reason for giving up yards

that is because we are lacking at LB this season. Goodson and Boulware have talent and make plays but they get lost and beat a lot of the time too. They give 100% but they are not the most talented LB combo we've had. I feel like Boulware especially has to guess and lean towards where he feels the play is going which is why NC St. lit us up on all the throw back plays because Boulware was out of position. BV is bringing up the safeties to help in run support leaving the corners to fend for themselves. They win the majority of the time but every now and then someone will miss an assignment or think a safety is helping out over the top when they are not and a WR will get left open. It's a risk reward style of football we are playing on defense and it has worked so far this season and I feel like with the talent we have at corner and on the line it will not be a problem moving forward.

I'm not saying Boulware and Goodson are not talented, they are both beast when it comes to stopping the run game and finishing tackles, especially Boulware. But they do lack the speed to help out in pass coverage the way Anthony and Steward did last season. Cook is going to know Boulware really well after the game Saturday because I feel like Ben will have a bounce back game and is the perfect guy to help shut down the best RB in the ACC.

Super nice guy. I met him last year when Clemson was recruiting a kid at one of the high schools I work at. He was amazed I knew who he was! We talked football for about an hour and we still keep in touch via Twitter.

He's gold! Look what the recruits say about him.....

Nov 2, 2015, 7:32 PM

“I have a really good relationship with Coach Reed,” Jones said. “Clemson was my first offer and when I went down there I felt like it was home and I felt comfortable down there. Yes, definitely his experience helps. That is one of the major positives of the recruiting, just knowing his history.” 2017 DB Deon Jones

"The coaching staff is pretty cool, Coach Reed was very honest with me and just told me that he feels like I'm the real deal and I can make a impact early." 2016 DB Tony Butler.

“It was great to be on the field and talk to coach Dabo Swinney and talk to coach Mike Reed, their DB coach and I got to talk about the facilities that they’re building and all that, it’s going to be ready for the class of 2016; and they ended up winning the game, so it was a great visit overall." Brittain Brown

"Coach Reed talked with me. He says that I've got good size and that I cover well. He most likely wants to see me at cornerback. He thinks I have great size to play it for him. I was excited to hear from them." KJ Chamberlain

“I had been to (North) Carolina games and I had been to Wake Forest, but the atmosphere at Clemson was totally different,” he said. “The way they treated you, all the schools treat everyone nice, but at Clemson they treat everyone like a family. It feels like a big family thing and all the fans and everything." 2017 LB Justin Foster

"He said I am the perfect fit for Clemson, because they want the bigger corners. They don't normally recruit Ohio, but they liked my film a lot and decided to come after me." Tony Butler

“As soon as he [Venables] offered I looked at my dad and started smiling. I really think after yesterday Clemson is close to the top as well as a lot of the other ones", 2017 LB Nate McBride said. “He is a great coach and a great man,” he said. “I have a lot of respect for him and I would like to play for a coach like him.”

“The visit went great. Coach Reed was great and I enjoyed talking with him. The football stave was very friendly and this would be a great place for me to attend and play football.” 2017 CB D.J. Brown

I had a great experience, it was real cool and I got a chance to talk to the coaches, coach (Tony) Elliott, coach (Mike) Reed and coach (Dabo) Swinney, so it was real cool." 17' DB Deangelo Gibbs
