house and refuse to leave. Yeah sure, I'm just going to sit back and do nothing and let you steal my house and hope to get it back some day. You've lost your freaking mind. I'm gonna show up with a few of my buddies with shotguns and start taking out kneecaps. You'll leave.

I think you misunderstood my point: Sure, I'd love to blast a squatter to he(( with a 12 ga. shotgun but the consequences of those actions would make ME the bad guy....the world is upside down.

It’s madness that you have to go to court to get an eviction of folks who illegally moved in and won’t leave. Then you have to give 30 days if it is ruled in your favor. The house will probably be destroyed within the 30 days tho.

The basketball facilities has had a squatter since 2010 and refuses to leave. Of course it would help if someone else wanted him.

Most empty houses these days are probably owned by corporations or hedge funds, which is honestly a much bigger problem than squatters (although it definitely sucks when they're squatting in your house).

I wonder if they are doing this to keep the real estate market from totally collapsing like 07-08? Probably helps prop up the overall market and they consider it a good investment for their other investments. Just a giant corporate Mr Potter.

best friend's dad growing up was a big barrel-chested man with forearms the size of my thighs. Yes a WW2 vet, but totally laid back and easygoing. But you knew not to mess with him, that was obvious. Loom fixer at the mill, etc. He'd wake us up in the morning by throwing open the bedroom door and yelling "All right you scalawags, up and at em!"
He was umpiring a game at the old Meadowbrook park, I think the team was then the Greenville Spinners (?). Anyway, some kid kept yelling obscenities and getting closer to the field. I saw Ump take off his mask a couple times and look at him. He finally had enough and and walked over to him, grabbed him by the hair and drug him kicking and screaming into the parking lot.
And then kicked him in the butt and sent him sprawling face first into the gravel. Calmly walked back to the plate, brushed it off and yelled Batter up! Real men. And those were good times.
