Not that they’ll have to worry about that scenario. I think that uga is going to take them to the woodshed.

This would've been the time to not speculate and as players say they were focused on the Orange Bowl, UGA, etc.

Little bit of delusion going on with FSU. I hope they give UGA a hard time. But that's doubtful with so many players out.

FSU is ranked higher than Alabama in the AP poll.

I think Alabama is going to win the CFP (again).

I think UGA is a very good team. They could easily win the CFP if they were in it.

If FSU beats UGA, then FSU should be ranked #1 in the AP Poll.

No matter how deep their defense is, they won't be able to withstand as many 3 and out possessions as they will have in that game with their #1 QB out with injury, and their #2 QB just quits!!! I do wonder if that kid packed his bags and went home, he probably should have if he didn't...

I agree with the CFPs committee decision regarding FSU. The committee is charged with putting together the best matchups possible for the four team made for tv/streaming post season exhibition.

Regardless, both teams - if undefeated - are more than welcomed to hang their own championship banner with the post season exhibition currently limited to four teams.

I guess I'm totally wrong with my belief of what the committees job was bc, I thought it was their job to place the teams in the playoffs according to them earning their place by their record and who they played and beat. I really didn't know that the teams that had less injuries had an upper hand to the playoffs... I remember we had several players suspended for failing the drug test and we were still selected to play in the playoffs!!!

The committee's mission is to "select the best teams, rank the teams for inclusion in the playoff and selected other bowl games and then assign the teams to sites."

Among their considerations are "unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance."

When we had players suspended in the 2018-2019 CFP that occurred after selection and thus was not a consideration.

Perhaps you could add a link to this for the uninformed who thinks that leaving FSU out was a conspiracy to help the SEC and Big Ten.

It's on the CFP website: https://collegefootballplayoff.com/sports/2016/10/24/selection-committee-protocol

It's the same criteria that every single conference agreed to over a decade ago when they introduced the selection committee. Notice how nowhere in the criteria is "P5" or "G5" mentioned - because the reality is P5 does not confer special privileges. G5 teams that went undefeated have been left out on the back of the listed selection principles - specifically the Strength of Schedule principle. FSU was left out on a combination of SOS and missing a key player.

Same conspiracy when client A and client B get invited to go to the Ryder Cup, all expenses paid, because they do $10,000,000 worth of business a year with a company and the client that does $500,000 doesn't get invited. Not a lot to talk about, the little guy just doesn't get an invite!

Who brings in the most money for ESPN?

Just do not see how one could see FSU top 4. They were not top 4 with Travis imo, and we seen that shoddy performance they displayed against an over rated Louisville team without him. They were the best in the ACC but Clemson was down and still should have won that game. Just did not see it but everyone sees things a little differently.

So Bama gets a pass for usf and auburn games. Bama may win it but if I watch ( and doubtful) I hope Michigan beats the dog crap out of them. I want to see Washington win it. If Texas vs Michigan or Washington vs Michigan in championship that would be fun to watch.

Wanting to see Washington win it. Bama beat what most considered the top team in the nation. I think Bama beats Michigan by 10 plus. B1G is normally a no show when it counts. OSU last year was surprising.

Could be wrong but not thinking so. I rarely buy into the Mich/OSU hype.

I won’t disagree with any of you that UGA easily handles FSU. However, I expect this same energy when next year starts. We should all expect UGA to have the spread covered over us in the first quarter as well.

If we played this fsu team we would beat them bad. Heck even the gamecocks would beat this fsu team so I think we have a shot at uga we may not but at least we have a shot.

I wouldn't have an issue with it if it were to happen. Heck, if they beat UGA now with all the injuries and opt outs I think it'd almost solidify it. But I just don't see it happening now unfortunately for them.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If by some miracle they beat UGA, they are national champs!

An undefeated team who beat 2 SEC teams and every ACC team they played would certainly deserve to be crowned national champion.

Now if the CFP didn’t screw up and leave them out of the playoffs, FSU would have had two much harder post season games to win it. But now, UGA has opt outs and is not 100%, so if FSU finds a way to win that 1 game and Washington doesn’t win the playoffs, then FSU is the indisputable national champ which will serve the CFP committee right!

But let’s be real, FSU is so depleted with their players right now, they won’t beat UGA, so it is a moot argument in the end, yet it is fun to speculate.

When your starter is out with season ending injury, and your #1 backup quits on his team and his teammates when they needed him the absolute most, I think that if I was a UGA fan, I wouldn't brag about beating a team that's as handicapped as FSU will be coming into the game.

Every time out Tigers have played in our biggest games, I've always said and meant it, that I hoped that whoever we were playing was as heathy as we were bc I hate hearing the excuses some fans will make bc their team lost to us. Just as I hope Kentucky is as heathy as we'll be going into the game Friday. There is nothing more Nauseous than hearing SEC fan making excuses to why they lost to a lowly ACC team!!!
