Will never want that. I think Dabo is the greatest coach in Clemson history. He easily deserves that.
Having said all of that, I would not be bothered if Dabo retires or takes a job at another school not named Bama. He is refusing to gather talent in a way that a team that reached the heights that Clemson reached is capable of gathering.
He is not playing the all out game as it is today because he doesn't have to. He will never be fired at Clemson and he should not be. Yhe rest of his tenure, 10 to 15 more years, is going to be like 2021, 2022, and 2023, if we get the bounces. We used from December to February to get a lot of group of five flips and preferred Waltons. It's not going to match up well with final four playoff contenders, or even ACC title contenders as we go forward. It is what it is.
College football is broken. The way Dabo wants to do it is the right way for old times sake. But is is not the way of big time contenders. I wish we weren't the program that is falling on the sword for this, but we are.

Unless college football cleans itself up drastically, I wouldn't be surprised if he retires before long. I would be bothered by it. But I couldn't blame him a bit.

Retire? I would be absolutely shocked if he retired. If he truly gets fed up with how college football is run I could seeing him giving the NFL a shot. Now I particularly do not see Dabo as a successful coach in the pros, but it would shock me more to see him retire in the next five seasons. That kind of money is hard to walk away from

Dabo is doing it the right way - and I’ll live with the results. I’d rather recruit and develop than tamper and entice guys from other programs.
I trust Dabo to use the portal when he needs to. He’s earned that trust. And he’s smart enough to use the portal on a “need” basis.
He’s not going to “fire” existing players. He’s committed to them and he’s loyal. I admire that. It’s the right way to build culture.
I don’t want to sell out current players we’ve committed to only to bring in mercenaries who may not be loyal or a fit.
I’m fine with not being like Georgia, FSU, and others. I love the way Dabo does things and only time will tell if the results come.
If only a little better on offense the last two years we’d have made the playoffs. We still have a team that can make it to the tournament.
I’m optimistic that that his way will work and he’ll use the portal the right way when needed.

No loyalty. Beaux Collins, Andrew Makuba, Dakari Collins. We've lost many players to the portal. We've had two quarterbacks quit dueing the season because they lost their starting spot for one game. We don't have to fire players to bring in competent transfers. We just need to stop filling with group of five and former walkons.
