How do the die hard Clemson Basketball fans feel about possibly leaving the ACC?

I have always thought the ACC is the place to be for college basketball. Do you guys think it would be in Clemson's best interest to leave the ACC?

Would be very strange for us to not be playing in ACC…been there all my old age years. Think Maryland lost something when they left as far as tradition. Careful what u ask for. These thought s are from my heart and not my wallet.

It might be nice to move to a competitive basketball conference that more closely resembles what the ACC used to be.

That would be a ton of travel for the team. I'd rather keep it more regional.

Maybe from a nostalgic, historical perspective people would be attached to ACC basketball but as far as current reality goes, the ACC is probably 5th or 6th best conference and has been on a decline as of late

I love ACC basketball and still feel that it's a great basketball conference.

I would be sad if we leave, but would certainly understand if the ACC is no longer meeting the needs of our athletic department as a whole.

already hardly resembles what it used to in basketball, so much of the lure and lore of ACC ball has already gone by the wayside. B1G programs filling the slate wouldn't be attractive at all but I would have no problem with a switch over to SEC hoops. KY, UGA, Tennessee, Vandy, and 2x SCar, plus all the rest - that'd be just fine.

Having finally snagged that @ Chapel Hill win clears the path.

I wouldn't like how far all the away games would be if we left.

common sense says that you keep your conference in your region. the SEC has done this pretty well. But the others have not. If we joined the Big10 I'd say my days of going to away games will be severely hampered. Every year you have to travel to Indianapolis for the BIG10 championship? Yuck.

SEC would be great but the coots won't allow that to happen.

Big 12 would be another ridiculous idea where all of our opponents are in the midwest.. just dumb.

there are no good options but remaining in the ACC and dominating in football might be the best option unfortunately.

The amount of influence the coots have on the rest of the SEC, is minuscule! Do you think TAM wanted Texas in the SEC?

What was the name of the little white ref back in the 70's and early 80's? I just remembered his name I think... Lennie Wirts or something like that. I remember us sitting under the basket and yelling at that squeaky mouthed SOB. But Lennie was entertaining, I'll give him that.

LOL. Yall sound like Tobacco Road fans saying you would miss ACC basketball. ACC basketball from what it used to be died over 20 years ago with the 2003 conference expansion.

so part of me would like to stay because our odds of finally winning go up when our competition goes down, but another part of me says it would be almost impossible to go to a worse basketball conference at this point if we did leave, so if we want to compete against the best, we probably need to move on.

I'm a traditionalist by fault

Would rather see the old 9 team ACC with Maryland

Every game with each school felt like a rivalry. And regional geographics had a lot to do with it.

I'm sure Pitt, Syracuse feel like outsiders. Stanford and Cal definitely will. SMU is a great pick up as far as money (Dallas market) but none of it makes real cents.

The ACC started much of this modern day realignment stuff (biggest move since Big 8 became 12 and shut down the SWC) and shut down the old Big East. Now they're next in line to follow the PAC12.
