The argument for the transfer portal has been players should be allowed to leave as any student cann since coaches can leave whenever they want.

However assistant coaches normally have 1-2 yr contracts that if they leave there is a financial penalty, HC usually have 5+ year contracts with large buyouts /penelety. If they leave early someone pays that buyout, usually the school they are going to.

The argument by the WOKE side that are in agreement with the transfer portal is it an inequality for the players which is not the case. They signed the contract (letter of intent) it is only 1 year, but for all intent and purpose it is for 4+ years contract. Some schools do make it 1 year, but that is the exception not the norm. Athletes leaving any sport without a penalty of sitting out 1 year unless they have received their degree is their penalty.


So yes WOKE is the core view due to the transfer portal, go get an education.

The term "progressive" basically covers all of that and has been around
