If my memory serves correctly those comments were not recent, they were made a good while back. If that is the case, it proves his bias when being interviewed during the playoff selection show and everything he did up until that point

So I did some digging regarding this comment by Herbie and here's what I found . He said this 4 years ago in regards to the FSU vs Miami game which the noles lost where there were 27 penalty flags thrown, mostly due to Florida state trying to fight on the field and playing sloppy football. Here is the full comment so everyone has context

“I want to get this off my chest,” Herbstreit said. “I’m done with Florida State. I don’t want to talk about them anymore. I hate the way they represent themselves. Their current roster needs to go back and watch the Bobby Bowden Era. Because it wasn’t about talking trash and fighting. That’s all they do. They’re the most undisciplined team you’re gonna watch. And they’re a terrible team. They need to focus more on execution and less on chirping. All they do is chirp.”
