My overreaction to the Clemson Tiger basketball win over Alabama

Biggest win of 2023-2024 season, definitely! Beating a top 25 team on their home court, that is a big deal considering it has only happened 1 other time according to an article I read earlier(non-conference road win over top 25 team).
This Brownell coached team did not let the infamous "6 minute scoring drought" beat them last night. The team fought their tails off, made some really big 3 pointers, and overcame the usual loss due to the scoring droughts. A very positive sign of a veteran filled team that knows how to hang in through the tough times in a game.
Veteran leadership will be huge this year. PJ Hall looks ready to lead this team to a successful season and tournament bid. Also this is a deeper team that can go to the bench and not completely fall off from the starters, a very good situation that Clemson has rarely ever had.
Brad coached a really good game last night. There was no 6 players on the court, no poorly times substitutions, and some nice movement on offense and not much standing around. Overall last night was a very good performance by everyone associated with Clemson basketball.
Props to the team for a nice road win over a good team in Alabama.

It was a very good win…a quality quad 1 (I assume) win instead of the quad 3/4 losses early in the season last year.

Those refs ... man....
The 1 other time was against scar, so barely even counts...
We even got off the last shot before the half! I was impressed with our team last night.

Bama was averaging 7 more free throw shots per game than their opponents.
It would have been more like 12-14 last night without our FT's at the end. Not good but certainly trending as normal for them.
It was rough both ways, and we seemed to get the worst of it, but Clemson fans have got to stop crying about the Refs, FGS.
Been doing it since the 1960's, if not before.

We still had the 6+ minutes of no FGs in the first half. Fortunately scored a couple right before half to get us caught up.
I was happy to see Leyte fill his roll with PJ in foul trouble. Was concerned during our drought and Leyte was on court but overall did fairly well.

Yes, as I mentioned it was impressive to overcome the "6 minute drought"

It usually means a L is coming, but last night this team kept playing/fighting to overcome it. It is very early but 6-0 looks great and with a veteran filled squad....
As fans we can at the very least feel good about this team right now. The future remains, but 6-0 is as good a start as you can get.
Go Tigers!!

"6 minute scoring drought" was a FG drought, we did hit some free throws during it.

Great point, thank you... there was some scoring at least but no actual FG's

it is getting a bit silly with how many games our Tigers actually have these kind of "droughts".
Maybe it is because I really only follow Clemson closely, but do other teams have these problems for 5/6/7 minutes of not scoring or hitting FG's???

I watch a lot of college basketball outside of Clemson and it happens, it isn't "common" per say but basketball is a streaky game.
My main takeaway was that our scoreless drought last night did at least have some free throws in the middle of it, and we were barely missing some layups and threes, so it wasn't too disconcerting.
I have seen some long droughts from us in the past where we aren't even close to making a bucket, take that for what its worth.

Give Brownell credit when he's earned it. Now, let's see if we can be consistent and just be competitive- win or lose. The team needs to build on this BIG road win.
