Well, there a half dozen or so that's just being educated from their scholarship, and Dabo could say, well guys, I've helped you all that I can with paying on your education, but I need your scholarship for some guys that will be playing weekly. There are guys with scholarship that barely see the field in mop up duty, just saying if there is a dire for the team to pick up a player or that can help be all we can be, somebody would be without their free free ride!!!

I'd be disappointed in Dabo if he became like Saban 2.0. Gotta be a better way than just outright yanking scholarships from players that earned them and telling them to kick rocks. Maybe he can offer a few GA positions or a way to transition into a new role involved with the team.

I have said this before but why not find a little more NIL money for a scholarship player, take away his scholarship and let him pay tuition with his NIL money.

There are those times where we hate thinking that our be loved FB team is actually a big business, and there will be those times where the HC will have to do things that he doesn't like doing, and players that only play in mop up duty will have to give up that scholarship that was given only bc it was there to give and help a student want to be athlete get educated for free....

I think more transfers will occur for us after the Spring Game. Some players will see they are not on the 1st or 2nd team and will look elsewhere.

There was also a write up several months ago where the NCAA made a statement that bc of guys coming back using the covid year, that scholarship restrictions would be relaxed until all those guys completed their allotted time to play out their college FB. Do anybody remember that?

Agree NCAA limit is 85, which limits our current use of the portal. Dabo also still believes in being loyal to and in developing the players he recruits. Don't believe Coach Riley will be pushing for portal movement, at least until he sees how his new Clemson players perform during spring practices.
But after the spring (during the May 1-15 portal period), believe several current players may try the portal if they see their opportunities to play more at Clemson are limited. It will also give Coach Riley more time to evaluator the current roster, and then decide whether or not he needs to push to recruit from the portal near-term or in the future. Clemson roster still is considered full of talent compared to TCU and other programs at this stage, even with the loss of some key players to the draft. Most of the Clemson players who used the portal this year were not starters or key reserves with potential to move up the roster. MHO, anyway.

The 6'7" TE would be a prize for the endzone catching jump balls anywhere it's thrown in the endzone, and Cade has proven that he isn't scared to throw the ball in the coverage to where his guy will have the best chance to catch the ball!!!

Scholarship talk aside. Picking up Savion Williams from them would be really good and maybe the TE. The others seem extremely unlikely that they'd come and don't make sense to.
