FSU vs UGA - Players Out

The truth … both teams had 27 players out.

Opt Outs:
FSU - 9
UGA - 0 (Note: UGA has had a couple of players that played Saturday announce they were leaving for NFL)

Injury:
FSU - 2
UGA - 7 (Had the injury bug a good part of the year)

Transfers Out:
FSU - 16
UGA - 20

Total Out:
FSU - 27
UGA - 27

EST. Scholarship Players Active
FSU - 58
UGA - 58

IMO - Biggest difference in what happened was a direct result in how the coaches reacted. FSU did have the most key skill players out that gave them the steeper hill to climb, but not 60 points worth … others may differ in opinion and I respect that. It was not so much the $$$ but more the attitude.

Many also for get Georgia started taking starters out at the half and ended up with a walk on Jr. QB who saw the first snaps of his career. Don’t know for sure but probably is on practice squad.

As for next season, there are several match ups that could go either way anytime they play. Clemson/Georgia will be one that will be fun to watch. Georgia should be favored but Dabo is no slouch and always fields a competitive team.

I 100% agree it was atttitude.

Dawgs wanted to play football and FSU was still wallowing in their self pity and didnt want to play football.

FSU played well for 13 games but at the end of the season (yesterday) I dont think they could beat many teams. As of yesterday they are a horrible team.

I would rank them 28th in the final poll, but I bet they get ranked 10th.

They definitely played some good teams … and had some great games.

I do have respect for the FSU program. Back in 79 I attended Bobby Bowden’s football camp … learned on Wednesday night there were two classifications of participants. 1) Those headed up to dorm rooms at 9:30 for 10:00 lights out and 2) Those coming down off the elevator at 9:30 with cash and girls … I was in the first group.

Don’t have that but in the same line that FSU had more skilled players would bet they have more starters out. That’s a rabbit hole not worth going down. Especially with a 60 point margin of victory and much didn’t change as Georgia took out starters beginning at the half.

I mentioned in another post, but UGA had 7 starters out (Bowers, Mims, Mondon, Dumas-Johnson, Sorey, Humphrey, and Thomas). Not sure how many starters FSU was missing, but I heard 9? Maybe that number is different. Of course QB is the biggie. But UGA was not full strength either.
Yes, it made a difference. Obviously the game would have been different. How much, we'll never know, but I still say UGA would have won regardless.

If FSU was full strength that game would have been VERY close just like the games you played against the coots and GA tech

Can’t argue that point. UGA was all over the place this season - head wise, injury wise and talent wise. (Was a definite drop off from the two previous seasons)

When they were on they were on and when they were off they were off. Definitely Georgia gave up more points in the first quarter than they had the previous two seasons.

Georgia depended on offense more than they had …

It was a weird season. UGA seemed to have two modes of operation: bored and death star. If a team didn't have our full attention, we tended to putz around until we needed to hit the gas. If we had our sights on someone, like Ole Miss, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, maybe UAB, etc, then that team never had a chance. We had our sights squarely on FSU. They would not have had a chance.
Good luck next Aug.

The main difference in the game was simply this.

FSU felt they got robbed out of a chance to be in the playoffs.

UGA felt they deserved to be in the playoffs.

FSU didn't feel like participating in the bowl game and it showed from the staff down to the players.

UGS wanted to show the committee that they belonged in the top 4 and it showed from the staff down to the players.

That's where the 60pt spread came in play.

The opt outs and the injury to the starting QB were the difference.

Was uga starting their 3rd string qb, 3rd string RB, missing their best 2 WR and starting TE?

Were they missing 5 startersout from their front 7?

UGA transfers weren’t on the two deep. Nobody opted out.

Totally different deal at FSU. Completely different. List the makes and you’ll see.

Claiming injury - the #s above are a copy and paste that was not game time and don’t include 2-3 other starters that sat.

Can respect your opinion. Was trying to look at is in a macro perspective not micro. I try to avoid going down rabbit holes. Point was UGA was not at 100% either and each team’s situation was different and FSU definitely was missing more talent.

Not a rabbit hole bud. Totally different deal at FSU.

is FSU had 3-4 players who could compete to start on UGA. Marvin Jones, Jr, not on the 3-deep at UGA, is transferring to FSU.

🤦‍♂️ even Kirby Smart said fsu had been victimized by the portal, nil, etc. and that their missing STARTERS had completely changed what this game could have been. Smart blamed the current state of college football for this embarrassment and he’s 100% right

They were hurt worse by the starters opting out. Not trying to say it was even because it was not.

If you compete in the SEC you have to have SEC depth - two and three deep. Would love to see Clemson and FSU over here with us. I think North Carolina and one more to make four. Man, Virginia looks like a Jr. High program most of the time. Maybe the fourth Virginia Tech???

Tennessee has one decent season since when, 1998? You haven’t been a competitive member. Just clinging to the coattails of Bama and UGa. Haven’t done much more than South Carolina actually.

Save us the SEC bullcrap. You’re not a player in it. Face it.
