FSU kickoff time

1

Sep 27, 2023, 10:22 PM

Anyone know how kickoff times are handled? Can’t believe a top 5 rival came to town and we played them at noon. Can’t remember the last time clemson ever played FSU at 12pm let alone a game in which FSU is ranked in the top 10. Even in down years we played them at night in memorial stadium. Feel like this weekend would’ve been a great recruiting weekend as well for kids to see Death Valley under the lights.

so... better to have the offense choke another one at 1200 or at 1900-2000? This offense needs to wake up... period. It's been dead since 2020.

Yea 430 yards is pretty bad huh… sure we can all agree that the offense seems to have huge turnovers but this offense even in the duke game has looked a thousand times better than the last couple years, and it will continue to improve with Cade getting more reps. If we make a fg or have a legit kicker no one is even mentioning the offense and prob praising how great they played overall.

Secondly the noon kickoff is actually one of the higher watched games bc of everyone getting ready for football and it’s immediately after gameday so it sucks for the fans but it’s not a bad slot as far as viewers. If accn would have had it it prob would have been the night game for sure.

yes, it is when you do not produce points at the end of the day. OL and WR and RBs missing blocks constantly is an issue. We do not have the gamebreaker WR or RB that scares teams...... so we must be 'perfect' with the possession game plan we have now. One or two mistakes kills ya... hince the one or two plays from victory that Dabo cites. So.... bad coaching or missed recruiting? Which is it?

I agree with some of that but the offense “being dead since 2020” I don’t agree with… is it the offenses we had during the natty and playoff runs no… but we regressed while dj was here and that’s a diff convo as far as recruiting, wr, dj, etc I’m just saying that entire offense. This offense is showing huge improvements to getting back to that with a very young qb that I think ppl are forgetting… name qbs that looked like Watson and Trevor their freshman year? It’s not normal and we were spoiled with it twice. Cade is gonna be a hell of a qb but it’s gonna take some bumps this year for him to learn and also throw in a brand new OC and it’s gonna take a little time. But moving that ball is not the issue that’s why I don’t fully agree with you. We just simply need to take better care of the ball and have a special teams unit that’s not a liability. I do agree some of its playcalling and coaching like the conservative calls at the end of reg to set up the FG, I didn’t like that and don’t like not goin for the td there. But I also agree we maybe did miss on a bunch of guys in those couple classes it looks like… the younger guys look a lot faster and more athletic for sure

Totally agree with your statement.... which was part of my question. We do not have the talent to overcome any mistakes as in the past. Cheers!!!

I think you're typing down something just trying to sharpen your typing skills bc it's clear that you haven't looked at the stats of the FSU game or the Duke game, but I will fill you in. In the Duke game, Clemson had 422 yards of offense. In the FSU game, Clemson had 429 yards of offense, plus Clemson had a 25-16 first down advantage over FSU. The Duke and the FSU game were both lost bc the guys in orange had some critical mistakes at the wrong time in both those games. Sometimes it's best when you know what you're saying before you utter a word....

Personally, I would take points over yards any day. It’s much harder in the red zone and Clemson is missing those home run plays for sure

If we hadn’t lost to Duke woulda been a night game. Maybe even College Gameday too. We looked so bad going into that game they didnt want to waste primetime on a potential beatdown. Obviously ended up being close

The Noon slot is a prime one now

Sep 27, 2023, 10:48 PM

It’s drawing big ratings this year. And everyone knew Ohio State Vs Notre Dame was going to be the big show at night so ABC wanted to but FSU/Clemson at noon to get the big ratings for that slot and used Texas Vs Baylor as their 8pm sacrificial lamb

TV times are determined 100% by the contracts that the conferences have with the tv networks. Clemson has little to no say. And FOX has started putting their biggest and most important game of the day at noon so they don't have to go up against ESPN's big primetime game. But ESPN wants to compete so they try to put a decent game on at noon too, at least on ABC. You're going to see more big games at noon whether fans like it or not. Meanwhile, with conference networks being a thing now, games like the Florida Atlantic game are sometimes at night despite not being big games.

"Even in down years we played them at night in memorial stadium." 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2011, 2015, 2017, 2021 were all day games at home against FSU. A couple were at noon. In 2015 and 17 Clemson was a playoff team but the FSU game wasn't at night. This is literally nothing new.
