I’m tired of hearing about how she just broke the scoring record held by Pete Maravich. No she did not!!! Her record is an amazing accomplishment but she broke the women’s record. Maravich holds the men’s record. Different league, different game.

I am over 50 and about 5ft 11 and 20lbs overweight, but I know I could beat her in one on one. First off, I am a man, but I am also stronger than the average man. No way I can just give her the credit she deserves for her special achievements.

As a longtime (former) member of the media, I can assure that the narratives are real, they are well-funded, and they are effective.
And a lot of people get irritated by them. I don't really get irritated by them as I had for so many years a hand in shaping them, and understand the strategies back of them.

It’s not really a comparison vs Pete Maravich. The issue is she is touted as the all time scoring leader in college basketball. No, she is the scoring leader in women’s basketball and Pete holds the record in the men’s game. It’s 2 different leagues. That in no way diminishes her accomplishment. We can be happy for her in that. She’s an amazing player.

Surely, whether you like her or not, you can respect what she has achieved. I certainly can.
Now, I am not about to make any comparisons about male players or female players from other leagues or eras, but I think it is a great story, she is a great player, and seems like a team player.
As a sports fan, there have been many players who I disliked for personality, their behavior, or on occasion just the jersey they wore (or in the case of golf, because I liked their rival), but I had to tip my cap to for their remarkable achievements on the field/course. Clark is not among those for me.

Plenty of people "hate on" NBA players for flopping. LeBron almost has to flop to get foul calls sometimes, though. He's so strong that he can play right through contact that should be a foul.

This seems a little aggressive. She’s a great women’s basketball player. Not sure why anyone is comparing her to the all time greats but 2 things can be true. She is a great woman basketball player, she also cannot compete with the men.
