The reason the GOP is likely to be swept out in 2022

Aug 17, 2021, 10:57 PM

The anti-mask, anti-vaccine stances in some parts of the GOP are going to come back to haunt them. As Covid-Delta rises while the viability of the vaccine seems to weaken might bring us right back to where we were in Jan. GOP Governors who insist that we have a right to not wear a mask or get vaccinated so as not to infringe on personal liberty is just a sales pitch. No one has the right to threaten others. People who don't get vaccinated shouldn't comingle with society. No one has the right to endanger others. As Arnold Swartzenegger said, "Screew your rights".

Now the GOP Governors in the south are betting on peoples lives, Desantis declared that mask and vaccine mandates were could be "the greatest loss of freedom in my lifetime." It is an astonishing development that he threatens local school boards if they dare require the children in schools to wear masks. It is the worst and most tragic political gamble I've ever seen. Although it's rare, kids do get hospitalized and some die. Inevitably, some will die. And DeSantis and others will be exposed for what they are, politicians in an historical moment, obsessed with personal success without regard for his fellow man. (And yes, there are some on the left as well)

How much do they pay you for all this?

My wife almost died of Covid, I'm 66 and immunocompromised. The idea that you can merely shrug off facts, science and the deaths of over 600,000 Americans doesn't seem rational to me.

How crushed does our economy have to get, again, before people like you realize this is a real Pandemic. In 2020 some 26 million lost jobs. That is a fact. Only a fool would risk going through that again.

You call it fearmongering, I call it being rational.

I'm 64, so we're in the same age group. My father died from the regular seasonal flu 6 yrs ago although he also had complications of emphysema and Agent Orange exposure from his service in Vietnam. Prior to his death, my mother (86) & I along with him took vax every year and every year got sick. Mom & Dad for the last 3 yrs. before his passing BOTH ended up in ICU with severe bronchitis developing into pneumonia every year!
After Dad's passing, Mom & I have not taken vaxxes for our own personal and obvious reasons. Neither of us have been sick in the past 6 years!!!
We will stick to what we have been doing for our own personal and obvious reasons.

I am not against anyone who chooses on their own for their own self to take the vaccine but please don't presume you know what is best for everyone else.

You’ve manufactured entire narrative of fear by weaving all of this together in this manner. Sad to see people living this way.

Felix, just stop with your nonsense. You’re embarrassing yourself. Typical democrat condescension and fearmongering.

Seriously, you really think the Dems won’t have their butts handed to them in 2022? You can’t be that detached from reality.

Let’s wager. You pick the amount; I will give 50 to 1 odds.

The GOP will likely gain a lot of seats in 2022.

Looks like a political ad from team blue. Hey, we're getting our ##### kicked because of Afghanistan so let's go back to fear mongering.

The Dems need to concentrate on the LGBQTetcetc issue. Thats where the votes are. That will get them 1% of the US population. After that they should focus on white privilege and also how we need to help people from south of the border. Those key issues are certainly a lock to help them win America over.

I can see Red Governor's being replaced with Blue...

Aug 18, 2021, 7:03 AM

But in terms on state and US House and Senate, they'll likely pick up seats. Especially in the US House just like 2020.

I would bet a huge sum of money that GA's next governor is a Democrat, but the House and Senate remain GOP.

While I agree that stance is pure stupidity and posturing,

Aug 18, 2021, 9:01 AM

I still like the GOP's chances in '22. Communism at home and loss of global power abroad does not inspire confidence in the electorate.

Personally, I am eager to see how things go in the Virginia governor's race this Fall.

I agree with you that DeSantis, McMaster, Abbot and others instead of being small government governors chose to try to grab political style points and not let individual locales and businesses choose what they feel is best for them and instead pushed for a one size fits all policy.

However, out of control spending, navel gazing re: trans rights, white supremacy behind every door, crime in our major cities, ineptitude in the Afghanistan debacle, total loss of the border, etc while the Dems control the WH, Senate and House make it very unlikely that the Dems sweep out the GOP.

The Dems have the ball and will be judged on their performance. The House and Senate will not be won or lost based on the actions of individual state governors.

well, the democrats are going to be too stupid to seize on this and the GOP can throw spending back in their faces and re galvanize their base, if they knew what was good for them. But then again, they too would continue to "spend like a drunken sailor on shore leave". 1$ quozz

I propose we follow France and Australia's lead to handle this deadly as #### pandemic. Anyone who doesn't get vaccinated should be taken to a camp as they're a direct threat to society.

lol - get the #### out of here w/ this projection ########
