Enough with conference crap already…

2

Mar 2, 2023, 9:47 PM

1.We go to the SEC east
2.FSU goes to the SEC west
3.Vandy and Kentucky get kicked out the SEC.

There is no doubt that with the be the strongest conference. The rest of the ACC you are own your own… there I said it… Honestly we belong in the SEC, our track record proves that…

Seriously? Conferences do not kick teams out. We are fine where we are.

Your Gamecocks have done nothing to earn your place at the table. I’m sure you’re glad Clemson is stuck in quicksand.

UK, one of the best basketball programs in the country for the last 70 years, is going to get kicked to the curb by the SEC. Are you on drugs?

Get used to it, it is not going to get better any time soon. We are locked in with the gor and the nc schools, who are making good money on the 3 or 4 decent football programs. We are stuck in the acc for the next decade or so.

Clemson is a founding member of the ACC.

Mar 3, 2023, 7:52 AM

This is our conference!

I doubt we bail out without trying to fix it first.

Yea buddy! Forward thinking like that is why we are in the awful position we are in now.

I don't know... All of the wishful thinking on the board

Mar 3, 2023, 5:29 PM

about jumping to another conference means nothing. It's a big echo chamber in here with a bunch of emotion-based arguments about why we have to leave the ACC.

I've seen some outlandish wants and statements on the board about changing conferences and why it makes sense, but none of them are fact-based.

The reality is that conference realignment may happen with Clemson, but it's not as easy as it sounds. And it likely won't happen soon if it does.

Bottom line: just because fans think we should move to another conference isn't justification to move to another conference.

Until Clemson has been invited to join another conference it's a moot point.

There is no fix for the mess the ACC has made for themselves

and frankly, we'd be foolish to stay.

Although, I will admit, the idea of an ACC/Pac 12 merger is very intriguing. If that's going to happen, the parties need to react quickly before the B1G comes back to take another bite out of the Pac 12.

Interesting you say that because it does nothing to me me. It is like the bonead WVa to Big 12 thing. Travel costs and time zone kill your teams in my view

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

WVU is an outlier.

Mar 3, 2023, 10:22 AM

If the ACC and Pac 12 merged, you would have a solid group of teams on both the west and east coasts.

I agree. That East/West concept is unique and interesting.

in the ACC, rather than quitting and running to what we think/hope would be a better situation.

Dabo has spoken about "blooming where you're planted." That applies here.

dealing with the ACC is akin to playing chess with a pigeon. The pigeon just knocks all the pieces over, craps all over the board, the then struts around like they've actually achieved/accomplished something.

As nice as that'd be, I just don't see that happening. It'd require the ACC to poach teams out the Big10 and SEC and those teams aren't leaving the cash cows. Plus, it'd require Notre Dame to join full time and I'm doubtful that will happen either. And/Or the ACC would need VT, Miami, FSU, UNC, GT, and UVA to go back to being annually respectable or good football programs again. Don't see that happening with most of those teams in modern football for the foreseeable future before it being too late.

What are you smoking? No way the SEC kicks Kentucky and Vanderbilt out. I believe it's inevitable that we end up in a different conference unless the ACC steps up its payout and we bring some stronger teams in.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Stronger teams like who?

Mar 3, 2023, 9:29 AM

Unfortunately, there really aren't any teams to add that would significantly move the needle in terms of bringing in more TV revenue.

That said, the idea of a merger between the ACC and the remaining Pac 12 teams is an intriguing idea and would likely be enough to move the needle significantly. However, if that is going to happen, the parties need to move quickly before the B1G takes another bite of the Pac 12.

Vanderbilt is too good academically to kick out.

Of course they need all the help they can get in that
