Do you think the NFL will EVER make the marketing decision

Oct 14, 2022, 6:50 PM

to allow a live streaming package where the viewer gets to choose what game they want to watch? Right now, it's just like a Model T Ford, you can have any color you want, as long as it's black. (Yes, kiddies, there was a time early on in the automobile market where the evil Henry Ford would not paint his cars any color other than black.)

The NFL does the equivalent of this by forcing "local market" games onto viewers, even with NFL Sunday Ticket, or any other currently available streaming service. I live in an unfortunate area where that means the Carolina Panthers. But, they play at 4 pm this Sunday. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to pick which 1 pm game you watch? I would take Trevor and the Jagwires vs the Colts.

But, the one I will have to watch, if I watch at all, will be the Ravens vs the Giants. Now, that game is in New York. Any other team that is close to me is also on the road, way away from their "home" market. It is just very frustrating, in this ever increasing world of options, that the NFL stubbornly continues to play Lord of the Manor over the fans.

Definitely a frustrating situation that irks me as well.

I'm a Miami Dolphins fan and, outside of a primetime game here or there, almost never get to see them.

Usually, it's Carolina, Atlanta, Pittsburg, or Jacksonville. Since TL is in JAX I enjoy catching those games now but would LOVE the option to get to watch a game of my choice rather than having to rely on that NFL Redzone to catch different games.

...eyeballs to watch the local teams, but it is past time they come up with a PPV service so you can watch your fav NFL team no matter where you are. On a side note, I thought you could watch any team with NFL Sunday Ticket? I even considered some years ago getting a DirectTV dish just so I could do so, back when I cared about the NFL.

No Amazon, Disney, and a couple of others are going to buy up all streaming platforms split different genres so your forced to subscribe to each individual service sit back and laugh. It’s really no different then what was done with cable they are just getting in front of the inevitable switch to straight streaming. Just like the telecommunication company I work for is getting rid of ALL cable services in the coming months and everything will be on the firestick.

sports bars have EVERY 1pm game on as the same time and the watch parties? Seems like it used to be a directv package of some sort. At at a place Sunday afternoon and they had laminated cards for all the 1pm games stuck to the bottom of the TVs so folks could sit and watch the game that interested them.

You can choose to watch any NFL game with DTV’s Sunday Ticket. The only games blacked out are the local games that are free (on local channels). DTV loses Sunday Ticket after this season, and will go to either Amazon, Apple TV or Disney, starting next season via streaming on their Apps.
