We just got back from a quick trip up to DC from Charlotte and I was amazed at all the Tiger support we got. My son has about every orange piece of clothing possible and I was wearing a pullover most of the time and we received high fives and congratulations for the win over ND all over the town.

It started at the air and space museum where at least 5 people wished us well and said they knew we were good and not to panic. Then, outside the White House, one of the many Secret Service guards yelled at my son, “Go Tigers”. (Dems don’t worry, Biden wasn’t home).

After that we took a ghost tour in Alexandria and had two separate random people say Go Tigers to us. Finally this morning, we toured Mount Vernon and the tour guide said his cousin went to Clemson and loved it and he wished us well also. Then while walking the grounds we had two staff members and an additional three other visitors congratulate us for the win over the Irish and wishing us luck the rest of the year.

Needless to say tbe positive vibes were welcomed but it just cemented what I already knew…people like Clemson. Whether they are fans or graduates or just observers, they appreciate what we have and they genuinely like Clemson football.

Coming from the Swamp, where good is hard to find, it was a pleasant surprise that some orange and a Tiger Paw brought so many positive reactions.

If you haven’t toured Mount Vernon, it’s amazing and the most recent Clemson World magazine spotlights a graduate who maintains the property and it’s pretty incredible what he does.

All this to say, we have so much to be proud of as Clemson fans/grads/families, don’t let a few losses turn you into a bitter fan!

Go Tigers!

That Secret Service agent that said GO TIGERS might have been the former Clemson player that’s on staff.

I also thought of Billy Davis but see that he retired from the USSS and is now director of event security for the Samaritan's Purse organization.

There are a sizable number of Clemson alums in the DC area. Great place!

That reminds me of the time I took a field trip with 8th graders

To DC back in my teaching days. When we got to Mount Vernon tour guide was like, “This is the original —— from the house, and that was the original - —- from the house”. When we got to the stables, I said, “Look kids, there are the original horses that Jefferson rode…”.
I did tell them the truth after I waited to see how many fell for it!

Glad you enjoyed your visit. I've lived in the DC area since the 80s. I've received a number of positive comments over the years.

Even when an item has just the paw with no writing, people always know it's Clemson. Even after all these years, I still get excited by a sudden and unexpected "Go Tigers" from a passerby.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.
