I received a few threatening texts last night from a number

in the 513 area code, which is in Ohio area, around Cincinnati. 3 texts were sent, all threatening, before I replied that they had the wrong number. Then they replied with my name, which unnerved me a bit. Then they said to watch my back.
I blocked the number after that, but I know about spoofing, etc. and I was wondering how they got my name?

I would - it is probably a Google phone number. This happened to me.
You're probably a more even keeled dude than I am, but I put an IP address tracker into an image and sent that to them. I logged their IP address and then wanted to reach out to some dirty Chinese hackers I found to put together a phishing application so I could figure out who they were.
But, if you tell them to stop texting you, and they text you again, allegedly you can call the Feds. They have an internet hot line or what not where you can file a report. If it's a Google number, Google has whoever the person is, where they made the number, etc. etc.
It's pretty infuriating. I was ready to wrap a crow bar around someone's head. ##### ### mother ####### these days using some fake ### phone numbers to talk ####.
