Congrats to CBB

With the win last night, he broke above .500 in the ACC for his career at Clemson, 118-117.

He also just *might* have garnered the NCAA bid he desperately needs.

Almost certainly will keep his job, despite the baffling and infuriating losses that continue to pile up in his resume like dog turds in a Great Dane owner's back yard.

I'd still like to see if someone else can do the job without those kind of losses on a regular basis, but have always continued to root for the team and CBB to succeed--I *want* him to be a great coach as long as he is our coach.

After he broke the 0-59 streak at UNC I was pretty happy for him and the team (would very much like to see that -1 turn into -2, then -3... -10 and keep growing. If he can break the 0-68 streak in ACC tournament championship attempts, well...

I just think it’s crazy to make a decision on three results out of almost 40 games. Wouldn’t do it with wins, harsh to do it with losses

I'm not basing anything on 40 games (33, really so far). I'm basing my opinion on 417 games and 235 ACC games over 13 years. I've seen CBB teams lose too many games they had no business losing.

That's just my opinion: I think Clemson could find a better coach. It's not a "narrative".

I appreciate all the positives CBB brings to the table (and my posting history easily shows those my saying plenty of positive things about him), but want to do better than the record CBB has produced.

Since it seems like we'll likely be retaining CBB for awhile longer, I'll be hoping that after 13 painful years, that CBB has turned the proverbial corner and gotten over the proverbial hump. And I will continue to be rooting for CBB-coached teams to win every game (I cannot fathom anyone WANTING to loose so that he can be fired). I'd hate to see us back in the ACC basement for the next 2-5 years. Time will tell.

I would not be pushing to increase his base pay, though. I would be supportive of paying him large amounts of money for things like future ACC titles and NCCAT appearances. Don't want to see Clemson paying out a lot of base pay for more years like the average of the last 13.

Your entire narrative off base IMO. Had he lost last night he would have not been fired. Moving above 50% for conference wins is a weird stat to use so guessing it supports your narrative.

I think it's an important mark. Why would be wanting to keep a coach who can't win half of his conference games? If you can't win more than half of your conference games, you have a losing record. An overall losing record is *not* the hallmark of a good coach.

I agree, wins and losses should never enter into the discussion. I mean how could that possibly inform about one's performance?

unrelated . . . .

THE ONLY thing that matters is W & L's - overall - in conference - vs Top 25 at the time opponents - vs Top 25 at the end of the year . . .

That's ALL that matters - other than content of character & serving our program /people well & the University.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Our basketball team is healthy and peaking at the right time.
We are getting help from nearly everyone on the roaster. Bigs have gotten better as our season has gone on.
Last nights game was about as good of a performance as I've seen from anyone this year.

Virginia is tough, great on defense. Let's hope they struggle on offense tonight.
