Sad news for the Seneca area…

Aug 30, 2021, 2:04 PM

Diener’s Kitchen announced today that they were going to be closing. Last day is Oct. 1st. Evidently, having a hard time finding enough help. Great food and a great family.

Just create and open a drive through. The problem is solved until after hyperinflation hits and the bottom falls out.

People don't want to work any more. Frustrating! Where I'm employed, we have folks that will schedule an interview and then no show for it. Never had this issue in the past.

terrible attitude and speed of the cashier. She said that she was told by corporate(Harris Teeter) that she was not able to fire or write up anyone for bad job performance or for coming in to work late. She could only take action for stealing or a physical altercation.

I imagine there are a lot of retail places in the same boat.

Don't think I have ever complained about speed of a cashier especially if I don't know what that person is going through. I give props to anyone trying to work today in retail and dealing with the crap they have to put up with. Pretty sure Harris Teeter has self checkouts. Did the manager show you where they were?

call out job performance of such workers, but this girl was being extremely obtuse. She was obviously trying to send a message to somebody, as she refused to speak to customers other than saying the total. As far as speed goes, it took her 15 minutes to check our cart of, perhaps 28 items. If you would have been there, witnessed the attitude and smirk on her face, I doubt you would condescend.

One of the news shows recently said that a family of four with both parents not working can make in terms of dollars, over $40,000 a year in handouts from the government. This includes unemployment, housing allowance, medical care through Medicaid, food stamps, And programs for several other items. All you have to do to remain unemployed is apply for a job. Then you can no-show for the interview. We are seeing this also in the medical field with people placing applications for CMA positions and not showing up for interviews. We have an entire group of people now just wanting to live on government handouts.

Yeah, but you have to check a LOT of potential boxes, basically be two unemployed high-income examples that just happen to qualify for assistance. And most can't/won't get to that amount. For example the housing allowance is when there isn't public housing to be provided and is dependent on the market in a given jurisdiction. Depending on the housing market, it can get steep. Then there is a limit to unemployment benefits and the limit is set by the state as well as previous earnings. You average service/retail person in the SE won't get anywhere close to that number. Thus while $40K might be a lot in some places, it could be very little in others and even then that is dictated by the state.

That being said, there is a lot of folks living off the government. Some "justifiably" some not. However, it isn't just individuals living off the government. A lot of private industry lives off government welfare. So it isn't just welfare queens....

Explain why anyone would go to a buffet in the era of covid packed in with a population that is 30% vaxed. Seneca could care less about
public health. I live in Seneca and it is OUT OF HAND.

Would you like to provide some data that supports your asinine opinions?

Aug 30, 2021, 9:21 PM

Covid was not being spread on shopping bags and groceries like people were trying to say last year. It’s a respiratory disease. Unless you breathe it in High enough amounts you have nothing to worry about.

Provide some data. Some credible verifiable data from a legitimate source.

It is sad. It’s sad that a local, family owned restaurant is having to close because they can’t find enough people to help relieve the strain of having to work non-stop. A lot of restaurants in the area and throughout the state are having to either close or cut back on their hours.

If you can’t understand that, you’re an #######.
