College football in 10 years - what do you see?

2 super conferences - SEC/B1G, with everyone else clamoring for table scraps

Clemson/FSU - SEC or B1G or what?

Bowl games still around? Relevant?

Athletes receiving paychecks - in addition to their scholarships?

I have no idea. All I is a mess and a shadow of what used to make it great.

We basically already have free agency in college football. This may be far fetched, but could we end up seeing trades in college football- of course with consent of the player? I think Pandora’s Box will never be closed and the college football we all knew and loved will never be back. It is the minor leagues with much more money being made.

More and more money flowing into the sport.

Players with more rights and privileges than ever before.

Dabo exiting the sport after winning another couple ACC crowns.

Some players making more than their coordinators salaries (2-4 million) per year.

Brain damage lawsuits representing the biggest threat to the longevity of the game at the college level.

Collective bargaining and unionization of players.

It had a great, great run, but "college" football is a dying sport.

Yes - two super conferences and perhaps a separate 'division' where they only play each other and the rest go back to a more 'student athlete' model

Clemson/FSU in the Big10 - makes more sense than the SEC due to recruiting profile and expanding footprint. We bring nothing to the SEC.

Bowl games - not around or still around after the above split with the more typical schools going to those and the superconference playoff teams fighting for the 12 (or by that point likely 16 split half and half between SEC and Big 10)

Athletes getting paychecks - yes, I think we'll move to a more 'employee' model. The players are paid for services rendered but will also put a control on movement (where new school would have to pay off their 'contract' as it were).

Finally fans - not sure. In all honesty I do NOT like the direction the sport is heading. Will the fans stick around? Yeah, most will I'm sure. But I'm not sure *I* have much interest in NFL-lite.

It's all numbers. The larger your endowment and alumni base and yada yada yada. The more likely you are to have high-roller boosters!

Those schools with a smallish booster supporter # won't be able to compete in terms of NIL money.

If you can't compete with NIL money and you are always getting the players that are left; more than likely aren't going to be able to keep up.

NIL - might see some reform in terms of transparency. The thing nobody is talking about is: if it's all under the table and pretty much secret. What other terms can you put in the deal. I.E. don't cover the spread. Lose that or this game. Because of the possibility of this; I think you will have some government oversight stepping in some type of way.

The Transfer portal will come with stipulations. Much like many have posted on here: 1. only if the HC or your position coach leaves. 2. you have a family emergency and need to be closer to home that's reviewed by a independent 3rd party. 3. You get one transfer free during your college eligibility years without having to sit out a year. No immediate eligibility after the 1st freebie. 4. You must announce immediately following the last game of your season but before December 31 "ONLY"! This is to ensure teams have an opportunity to fill out their roster. I.E. you can't wait until Spring where a Freshman beats you out, get buttock hurt then transfer(work harder).

Split leagues!

Current FBS teams who don't make it $$$$$-wise to the Semi-Pro league would have their own National Champion.

Current G5 schools(some moving up to current FBS) would have their own National Champion.

FCS stays the same minus some teams that move up.

And that will prohibit some of the moving around. Of course it will require some restructuring to accomplish this

I love the idea of signed contracts.

This or at least some transparency in terms of the particulars of these NIL deals. Nobody on Sportscenter or sports writers across the country seem to have a problem blasting pro athletes salaries all over the air waves.
These kids are now pro athletes. The reason it's important isn't about "getting in their business". It's more about making sure shady business isn't going on. Like kids fixing games.

Nobody wants to talk about it: "but what's stopping it from happening when you can openly give players money"? You simply call it an NIL deal.

It wasn't NIL; it was a entity paying a player to fix a game.

Pro athletes get paid well in smaller part(outside of fair market value for their job) because someone who's compensated that well is far less likely to have a need to fix a game for money.
I mean, you better do something or whoever gets to the kid first with the biggest amount wins the day.

Also, putting stipulations around Tampering! Some stiff and almost death penalty type punishment should happen if it can be proven. There has to be a deterrent to this tampering that's going on.

NFL farm teams with players who have little to no real affiliation with the school other than in name only.

I see a good bit of the fans who’ve helped make CFB what it is leaving the sport for good, the suits will realize one day why the sport was so profitable but it’ll be to late

In response to your 3rd point, bowl games are already irrelevant unless you're part of the current 4-team playoff. Except of course for the extra practice time allowed.

Question for anyone. What happens to the smaller sports teams at schools that loose a lot of their big time FB revenue. Where will the financial support come from to continue these? Just asking. Not trying to stir the pot.

I see most of us not watching much of it.

I see contact football being replaced by flags

I see the rules being changed to make it easy for girls to play.

Perhaps they will only allow the players to use their feet and remove the opposable thumb as a tool.

I see half the high schools in America just outright banning the game.

Pay becomes a nonfactor as the NFL basically strangles itself to death making college the only game in town.

The college games become as political as the NFL and we all just give it up....the end.

AS fan? Clemson wins the championship in 9 out 10 and they make a special rule that no team can play for the championship twice in a row because that is just not fair.

I doubt it will be much of a concern when the economy collapses. No way that the current levels of debt worldwide are sustainable.
