Coach Jeff Scott sees College FB Players demanding CONTRACTS

from their respective college Athletic Departments..

and each conference delving out a pool of its TV revenues equally to each participating school and that school’s football athletic departmentv divides it out to the players by position or performance.

Didn’t suggest it, but the podcast host asked him if unions would be in the CF future as iti is in NFL.

As we know & feel, rightfully so, our beloved Student/Athletics college football days are over.

Seems that way. All things change.

The odd thing about College football is that more people attend the top 30 college games than they do the NFL.

Wild idea… College Football power 40 joins the NFL and creates a promotion/relegation league.

JK. That won’t work.

Attend? Yes
But watch on TV? The nfl far outpaces NCAAF there. And that’s where the money is.

Not last year, not year, not in the future. Football is football.

Seems like the next step if this is true about players asking for 5K just for a visit.

Cool! That pushes me further away from college football.

I’ve truly loved it however, since going to games before either upper deck was added in Death Valley.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly. Its caused me to appreciate the NFL more.

If I want to see the best players money can buy, I’m going to watch the professionals.

I’d be in favor of contracts

Right now they are all free agents

This is very interesting. Where were all these coaches, AD's and school president's when players were being exploited financially? They all sat quietly and didn't say a thing. Schools were making dollars hand over fist and the players couldn't hold any type of job, sell tickets allocated to them, or make money off their jerseys? Not saying the current NIL format is perfect but it is a start. Do changes need to be made to it? Yes, more structure and oversight is needed. But right now, I'm in favor of the players making all the can off a sport that is short lived. Everyone else (coaches, AD's, school presidents, the NCAA officials, TV companies) is getting paid...why not the players?

Then shouldn’t these semi pro players have to rent the uniforms, weight rooms, trainers, coaches, dining halls, practice fields and stadium built by the university? And pay for their travel to and from games? Seems fair.

And when they decide to sit out bowl games because they are prepping for NFL. How about pro rating that scholarship?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That will be where most of our IPTAY dues will soon go.

To support a semi-unionized players organization of some type.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?
• Put up goal posts
What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?

I think they should be paid and have a contract.
They should also have to pay for there education out of the contract.

What is interesting is that the NFL does not know it yet, but they are in danger of losing market share and talent to the college game. There will be pressure for longer eligibility and more money for college as the fans are more numerous and generally wealthier. The NFL would be wise to drop the age requirement to enter the draft TODAY to maintain their edge in talent and revenue.
