Clemson and FSU voted NO!

1

Aug 15, 2023, 3:46 PM

Both did not want to bring in Stanford and Cal. I didn't realize both these teams have sucked so bad for the last decade. I always felt like Stanford was competitive but I guess that was Shaw's glory days.

Yeah, they haven’t been good since Luck left.

Gosh, that seems so long ago. Stanford always had good OL but short on skilled positions.

They were still really good with McCaffery

In 2013-2015 after Luck went to the NFL. They were also still pretty good with Bryce Love for a few years after that. They really fell off in 2019 and have stunk since.

Wouldn't say that. 2 really solid years after he left with double digit wins and had a rose bowl. McCaffrey Heisman finalist and a #3 ranking

I'm guessing they voted no because adding those teams wouldn't move the needle - likely just weaken the ACC - because it's pretty simple, if FSU and Clemson don't leave the ACC at some point, say goodbye to ever being a national power ever again. And adding those teams, any teams at this point for that matter is pointless and won't move the needle.

Would have only moved the needle backwards with all the additional travel costs and time, you know the NCAA and conferences wanted to have that figured in for the student athletes.

It would have also increased the number of votes needed to disband the conference.

Stanford and Cal add NOTHING to the ACC...

Aug 15, 2023, 4:15 PM

particularly in terms of moving the revenue needle. Just more mouths to feed with no added revenue, so everyone ends-up getting less.

Telling them thanks but no thanks was absolutely the correct call.

No, article said it had to be 75% vote so someone else said no. ND was fighting hard for them, Prez of ND said it's a shame that fine academic universities are being left out. But the irony is they wont join the ACC as full member so he can STHU!

Harbaugh was successful there, too.****

Harbaugh's recruits, the worse the record got...He had a two year bubble of his own and then the bottom just dropped the #### out

Bravo for Clemson, FSU, Woofies and Blue Bellies...the ACC should
tell ND to pack their bags. The rest of the teams in the ACC should
be put on notice that the league will be gone if those four teams
leave and they will eventually.

Norte Dame won’t join the ACC for football (the only sport where ND could help the ACC from a monetary point of view.

Yet, ND chides the ACC for inviting Cal and Stanford to the conference, which, if Cal and Stanford joined, would further dilute the ACC’s already uncompetitive splitting up of TV contract revenues. None of the ACC’s TV contract revenue problems are shared with ND. They’ve still got their NBC windfall.

Good old ND. Generous with other people’s money so that ND can get what they want.

(*). If ND, Cal, and Stanford were an all three package deal with football included, then I’d say welcome to them. Otherwise, take a hike.

I can think of a lot of things the ACC needs
