Call me Old School but bowl games

Were better when the season's players showed up to finish their season come what may. Many of the matchups today will be missing the essential identity of teams with so many opting out. We have made it too easy for players to quit on their teams and not finish the season. Flame away but that's my opinion.

use to mean something. Since the invention of the BCS the bowl games became meaningless. Players play regular season games to get to the playoffs now. What do you think NFL players would do if they were not on playoff teams but still had to play games for the sake of playing games?

Well considering that’s their job… they’d still show up to play… If I decided not to show up to work just bc I didn’t get my promotion, I’d hope I’d get fired. Maybe I should try it out…

We don’t have to imagine. This happens every year when teams are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. They still play as the are under contract and compensated, though some teams may choose to sit some players to prevent injuries to a star player or see better evaluate back-ups going into next season. Like possibly Aaron Rodgers sitting in favor of Jordan Love this year.

If they are going into the draft and expecting to be first or second round, it would make no financial sense to risk injury. Particularly if they are not in the playoffs.
