Cade Klubnik Observation

Cade Klubnik appears to have issues with his field of vision while attempting to pass in the pocket. Vizzina and Pearman both have a much quicker release to them. However, Cade tends to hold on to the ball a bit longer than the other two. I have noticed that last season he tended to throw better passes whenever he was forced from the pocket. This is not just a CK issue though as many amazing HS QBs come to the next level at D1 programs and have issues seeing the open players downfield due to the much larger O-Linemen standing in front of them. CK isn't as tall as Watson or Lawrence. Not even as tall as DJ was. However, if you go back and watch film, most of CK's throws outside of the pocket were his better throws.

Agreed. I think he plays best when he can play fast and on the move. He looks better in hurry up (Kentucky) and rolling out. Honestly my guess is he plays better on instinct than when he has to process.

Playing on instinct is always better but you cannot get wild without a stellar O line...as if Dabo and company do not have an outlet plan...a must in this age of defensive play...a QB that can escape a hand tackle, open a small gap, or find a tall tight end drifting across the middle...we failed in that area last year. Riley had those options at TCU!

In the Spring game his worst throw was outside the pocket.***

The dude really only had like 4-5 bad passes, granted 2 were really really bad( the double coverage throws).

He didn't look that much better in spring game. Hoping I'm wrong.

O line looked mediocre

I personally felt more comfortable with Pearman at QB. Some QBs just seem to be more natural and comfortable in the pocket. Cade seems to be trying to see so much he does not see the obvious. I hope Dabo will give Pearman a chance. If Cade starts the Georgia game and is struggling I hope Pearman gets a chance.

If he’s healthy, I can’t imagine Cade not starting until the team is 2-2 because of his erratic play. That would put us heading down to FSU. That’s how Dabo rolls. Plus you know like last season there will be plenty of other reasons we lost 2 games so Dabo will deflect QB criticism elsewhere. He still talks about all the turnovers last season like a team wide contagion and Cade had a bulk of the worst ones.

Pearman was impressive best qb on the field imo. I can't see any difference in Cade from last year, I know it was only the spring game but it's still the same Cade. Cade's interception rate will be higher this year than it was last year.

It is time for a dose of reality. It has been 99 days since the last game of the 2023 season and yesterday showed there has been very little improvement of Klubnik. His erratic play and tendency to make poor decisions has not changed. With the opening game against UGA 146 days away, unless some divine intervention takes place there will probably not be much improvement in his play. I will admit I was never really impressed with him from the beginning. I had the opportunity to see Bryce Young and Caleb Williams play in high school and it was evident to me Cade was no where close to either of them. We can all say Cade has potential but as of this point it has not translated to on field play. I'm sure this post will not be popular with a lot of people but we can't keep denying what we see on the field. Obviously it's not the offensive system because yesterday Pearman looked real good and deserves some playing time. As for Vizzina, not impressed with him either. Time to make an all out effort to get a legitimate QB in next year and if Cade or Vizzina wants to transfer let them leave. Both have been giving fair opportunities to show what they can do and it's obvious neither has the ability to lead Clemson to a championship.

Spot on QBVII couldn't agree more! Managed your expectations for this season, with Cade at qb the handwriting is on the wall, this season is a wash. Dabo is part of the problem, his arrogance hinders the entire program.

It’s obvious that he’s the best QB during practice, Pearman is a game day QB. I’ve grown to question Dabos ability to pick up on this as week after week we will hear excuses and lectures as fans on why we need to believe as our tigers drop games.

If Klubnick is our starter against Georgia we get smashed. We probably drop another game early and then there may be a QB competition once we’ve been all but eliminated from the CFP conversation. It’s frustrating

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING IS THAT SOME PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO TYPE.

Only push back I’ll say is he and DW4 are the same height at 6-2 I believe. TL and DJ were both like 6-4 or 6-5. But agreed that some HS players don’t transition well. He definitely has an issue seeing the field.

I’d love to see Cade and DW4 stand beside one another. No way is Cade as tall as Deshaun.

i think he's a "footstep hearer" in the pocket as well. Panics and throws

sometimes when he's not sure of the target. What i liked about the Pearman kid was he was decisive, threw on time, and seemed to be able direct everyone well. Throwing on time was the biggest plus though. It has been a minute since a QB at Clemson seemed to understand the offense and coverage's well enough to get the ball out in a timely matter. DJ was horrible at throwing on time and Cade seems to be close to the same. I figured it was the offensive scheme that was maybe the culprit but Pearman didn't seem to be confused and staring down receivers while hitching over and over until they were presumed to be open. Just an observation i had.

The other thing about Pearman, he has a good pocket presence
knows when to pull it and go, also he is instinctive with the rpos
made some very good runs. He is very accurate with the intermediate
throws. He could be a great game manager, if he is physically able to
stand the run game. Not sure how big he is.

DJ and Cade seem to lack that mental toughness/game instinct that’s necessary for successful college QBs. While DJ looks like he wears concrete shoes, Cade looks erratic and jumpy.

The frustrating thing is that we don’t need a TL to have a playoff run! Just a consistent playmaker will do! All the other positions/talent is in place. I believe the OL, while not great, can be enough with Luke coaching and the starters healthy. We have an elite defense that’s been carrying this team for years now. It’s time for the QB and offense to step up and do their job. Score touchdowns and NOT TURN THE BALL OVER!!
